What is a Hortatory Exposition ?

 A hortatory exposition is a piece of text that presents one

side of an issue.

 If you have ever tried to persuade someone to believe

something or if you have argued with someone, then you
have used the exposition text type.
Why do We learn Hortatory Exposition ?

 When we ask others to do or not to do things in a persuasive way, generally

in a formal written or spoken form, we use an exposition text. It presents
arguments to support our ideas.

 So, it is important for us to learn how to present persuasive arguments in the

form of hortatory exposition

 The purpose of a hortatory exposition text is to persuade the reader or

listener that something should or should not be the case

 Language Features of a Hortatory Exposition

 The language features usually found in a hortatory exposition are :

 Focusing on the writer
 Using abstract noun; policy, advantage, etc
 Using action verb
 Using thinking verb
 Using modal adverb; certainly, surely, etc
 Using temporal connective; firstly, secondly, etc
 Using evaluative words; important, valuable, trustworthy, etc
 Using passive voice
 Using simple present tense

Consume Water to Have Beauty
 As we know that there are so much water in the world. There are many kinds of water
that we can consume every day all time.
 Consuming water can be made as therapy of disease, because water that we consume
with enough amounts and the right method can purify of poisons in our body. The therapy
of water can save water availability in the body.
 Therapy of water can keep the beauty too. Skins is the out part of the body that has
contact with dirty air, sun light and pollutions. To keep the skin elasticity, water is
needed in the enough amounts. Water can dampen of skin until not easy to dry and make
crimp.
 To keep the balancing of size body, water is needed. In fact, water can increase the
metabolism and pressing of eat desire. Consume a lot of water can filtrate much calories.
 So, let’s consume water everyday at least eight glasses to keep our healthy and beauty.
But, the water must be clean and hygiene. Find, buy and consume the best mineral
water!

 Where should be after High School?

The National examination result will be publicly announced in next short time. Euphoria will flood for those who
get success. In the other hand, It will be sorry to hear that there are some of them do not succeed in their national final
examination. For those who succeed soon will think to decide; where will they be after graduating high school? Actually it
will be easy to decide for those has been arranged and thought earlier but for those have not planed yet, it will be quite
confusing.
Continuing study or looking for work is the primary choice among them. When they think about continuing study,
they will think hard about the time and cost. How long the higher study will last? And how high is about the cost. In the
same way, when they think about straightly seeking job, what skill and competence they have got is a big matter of
questioning. So, doing both choices in the same time is an alternative.
Continuing study as well as seeking job is possibly done but it will be hard for them. Conventionally studying in
the university needs much time to spend especially in the first year. It is true because they have to do and adapt a lot of
things in their new higher school. it will be very hard to looking for job. Therefore it should come to their mind of
continuing studying at higher school from their own home. As result, the available time will be more flexible for them. Then
it will be very possible to seek job and get the appropriate one. This type of studying is publicly known as distance learning.
As the alternative method of studying, besides the conventional studying which students and the lecturer have to
meet in the fixed time and place regularly, distance learning provides possibility to grow better. Possibly working and
studying surely will create high quality graduate. Distance learning should appear as a considerable choice for them
ENGLISH SPEECH
Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen. My dear friends and my honorable teachers. I am here to deliver my speech about the important of
health for our life. Tomorrow we will celebrate the National Health day on the twelfth of November. For that I would like to remind again why it
is important to keep our body fit.

Everyone here wants to be healthy and fit, right? As we all know that health is the most important factor in life. It is also the cheapest thing to
acquire. We don’t need to buy many expensive stuff to be healthy. With good eating habits and doing regular physical activity we are one step
closer to a healthier life. It sounds easy, but sometimes not so easy to do. With school, homework, many school activities, and hanging out with
our friends, we are too busy to lead a healthy life. But then, if we neglect it, if we force our body to do all of those activities without taking care
of it. Then eventually, we can get sick. And when we get sick, we cannot go to school, we cannot join school activities, and we cannot even
have fun. As the saying goes, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” It means that being healthy is much cheaper than being sick.
Because we can imagine the cost that we have to spend to go to the doctor and buy the medicines. So which one do you prefer? Being sick or
being healthy?

And while we are it, Staying healthy is an important part of growing up. Living a healthy lifestyle also can be beneficial not only physically abut
also emotionally. In puberty, we have to deal with many problematic things in school, staying healthy can really help not to be overwhelmed.
Staying healthy physically can help us stay healthy emotionally too. Keeping a good eating habit and taking care of our body will make our
body string and help us to cope with stress. In a study conducted by researchers at University of Indonesia it was found that exercising for 30
minutes, three times a week can help an estimated 60% of patients overcome their depression without using anti-depressant medications. In
addition, exercise can give us the time we need to relax, take a break and deal with the problem at hand.
The honorable Audiences, leading a healthy lifestyle can also improve the appearance of our skin, teeth and nails and give us that certain glow
that makes us look great. So we will look good just by being healthy. We don’t need to do a certain diet to get slimmer or stronger. Our body
will automatically shaped well as we grow into adulthood.
Ladies and Gentlemen, that is why we have to live healthy. By being healthy we can have a good life with full excitement without having to
worry about being sick or about the cost of medical treatment. Secondly, aside of physically, staying healthy also can be good for us
emotionally. It can’t reduce stress and keep us happy. And the last but not the least, leading a healthy lifestyle will makes us look good. And for
us teenagers, looking good is important, right?
So maybe that’s all from what I can deliver today. I hope we will always stay happy and live a full and happy life. I thank you for your attention
