THE FEEDBACK PROCESS
FEEDBACK

• Feedback is an integral part of analytic & creative processes … it is also integral to the research process itself.

• Artists talk about ideas as they create things. They talk to narrow the idea & articulate their purpose. It is very much
a before-during-after process …

• It is the same for researchers.

FEEDBACK
• When developing a project, researchers need to give the general idea, describe the more specific phenomenon, &
articulate the central RQ. They also need to rationalize why this topic-phenomenon-RQ warrants attention.

• Once a study is conducted & a piece of writing is developed, the feedback process continues as researchers revise &
edit a piece of writing.

• After the piece of writing is developed, the feedback process continues as researchers iron out the writing & then go
through the presentation + publication process.

• The peer feedback processes in this course are meant to facilitate opportunities for this collaborative process as you
develop the 2 larger projects in the course …
P E E R F E E D B A C K — PA RT 1

On/before FRIDAY 12 JULY 2024, you will provide constructive feedback to 4 of your peers by responding to their
A1 posts in the form of a critique. Each peer feedback post should run at 175-225 words.

It is important that all students receive at least two feedback posts. As such, you will need to contribute your peer
feedback accordingly (i.e., if Student A has already received multiple feedback posts & Student B has only received
one so far, be sure to post feedback for Student B rather than Student A).
P E E R F E E D B A C K — PA RT 1
In terms of content, your peer feedback posts will provide thoughtful & respectful constructive criticism. Your critique points may speak to a variety of considerations, such as:

 Clarity of ideas

 Supporting truth claims (i.e., providing a suitable amount/type of evidence for assertions … such as if x then y assertions)

 Providing clear reasoning & argumentation

 Extending ideas (ones that warrant further discussion)

 Using correct grammar (i.e., verb tense usage, subject-verb agreement, compound adjectives, opening sentences with “this”)

 Using grammar variety in writing (i.e., opening sentences with different parts of speech)

 Following APA formatting expectations

• Please note, you are not expected to speak to each of the above-listed considerations. & by no means are you also not confined to that list when providing constructive
feedback. The list of critique-point considerations is meant to help you get started as you sort out what you decide to suggest in the 4 feedback posts you submit on
Brightspace. After all, you want your feedback to be precise, meaningful, & valuable.
P E E R F E E D B A C K — PA RT 1

While you will post 4 feedback posts on Brightspace, you will then select the 1 you believe to be the strongest. It is
your SELECT.

On/before FRIDAY 12 JULY 2024, you will email your 1 SELECT to Dr. Cobb in the body of an email. The title of
that email will read as follows: EDUC8795 / A2 / YOUR NAME HERE.
