Service Models in Cloud

In cloud computing, there are several service

models that define how computing resources
are delivered over the internet. These models
are often referred to as the "cloud service
models" or "cloud computing service
models." The three primary service models
are:
1. Software as a Service (SaaS):
2. Platform as a Service (PaaS):
3. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS):
Service Models in Cloud
Software as a Service (SaaS):

SaaS delivers software applications over the internet on a

subscription basis. Users can access these applications
via a web browser or API without needing to install or
maintain any software locally. SaaS providers handle
all aspects of software maintenance, including updates,
security patches, and infrastructure management.
Common examples of SaaS applications include email
services like Gmail, productivity suites like Microsoft
Office 365, and customer relationship management
(CRM) platforms like Salesforce.
Platform as a Service (PaaS):

PaaS provides a platform allowing customers to develop,

run, and manage applications without dealing with the
underlying infrastructure. It abstracts away the
complexity of managing servers, storage, and
networking, allowing developers to focus solely on
building and deploying applications. PaaS offerings
often include development tools, databases,
middleware, and other necessary components.
Examples of PaaS providers include Heroku, Microsoft
Azure App Service, and Google App Engine.
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS):

IaaS provides virtualized computing resources over the

internet. It typically includes virtual machines, storage,
and networking resources. With IaaS, users have the
flexibility to deploy and manage their own operating
systems, applications, and development frameworks.
Examples of IaaS providers include Amazon Web
Services (AWS) EC2, Microsoft Azure Virtual
Machines, and Google Compute Engine.
After the
completion of this
course:

• I am able to explain the fundamental concepts of

cloud computing & Virtualization.
• Understand ideas and Principles of cloud computing
& Virtualization .
• I am able to describe fundamental concepts of cloud
infrastructures and service oriented Architecture .
