Class: Year 4 Lizards HOW DOES A DIGESTIVE SYSTEM WORK?
The first process of the digestive system is
chewing. Then the salivary glands make saliva which gets mixed up with the food that you are eating and breaks it down. Then the tongue pushes it to the oesophagus (a food pipe). Then it reaches to your stomach , which beaks it down even more. It takes 3-4 hours to break it down. Now it will go to the small intestine. The liver makes enzymes , the gall bladder stores it and sprays on the food when the food reaches to the small intestine. Then the food gets absorbed as it moves through the small intestine.
Almost all the nutrients gets taken away and will be given to the parts of the body…
Further remaining nutrients and water is absorbed from the
large intestine. Finally, the waste will be thrown out from your anus. Thank you for watching
