Introduction
• Nepal Rastra Bank was established in1956(Baishakh 14,2013 B.S.)
under the Nepal Rastra Bank Act 1955(2012 B.S.),to discharge the
central banking responsibilities including guiding the development of
the embryonic domestic Financial sector.
• Nepal Rastra Bank Act 2012 was released and Nepal Rastra Bank Act
2058 was enacted from Magh 17 ,2058.
• It enacted by parliament in the first year of reign of His Majesty the
King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev.
• NRB Act,2058 clarifies the objectives ,function,responsibility,authority
and preference of the bank.
In order to achieve the objectives and purpose of this Act,12 chapters
and 112 sections have been fully explained it.
This act has defined NRB as an autonomous and corporate body with
perpectual succession and shall have separate seal for transaction of
business of the bank.
This act has elucidated about the monetary function and the statutory
ratio to be maintained by all banks and financial institutions.
This act has made different provision regarding regulation,supervision
and monitoring of banks, proper management of foreign currencies.
