LESSON 2:

Evaluation
Of
Function
Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students should be
able to:

Evaluate a functions.
Evaluating Functions
It is the process of determining the
value of the function at the number
assigned to a given variable.
Example
Let f(x) = Find the following values of the
function.
1. f(3) = 4(3) - 3
= 12-3
= 9
2. f(4) = 4(-4) - 3
= -16-3
= -19
Example
Let f(x) = Find the following values of
the function.
1. f(5) = 2(5) + 3
= 10+3
= 13
2. f(3) = 2(-3) + 3
= -6+3
= -3
Example
Let f(x) = Find the following values of the
function.
1. f(2) = (+ 4(2)+8
= 4+8+8
= 20
2. f(-4) = (+ 4(-4)+8
= 16+ (-16)+8
=8
Example
Let f(x) = Find the following values of the function.

1. f(0) = = = -2

2. f(3)
