 Expected Benefits
According to beta tests on live TDD networks in China, the subframe-level BLER converges
on the target after the subframe-level MCS adjustment function is enabled. Drive tests
indicated a gain of about 1%. The specific gain depends on the subframe-level BLER.

FEATURE MO Parameter Sub-Parameter Default Pre-Value Suggestio Parameter description
n
NRDUCELLP DlLinkAdaptAlgoS DL_TD_MCS_ADJ_ 0 0 1 Indicates whether to enable time-domain MCS adjustment. If this option is selected, the
Subframe-level MCS DSCH witch SW base station performs MCS adjustment in the time domain based on channel conditions.
adjustment NRDUCELLD DlBaseAmcAdjWe 10 10 10 Indicates the weight factor for the downlink base AMC adjustment value used in downlink
LAMC ightFactor time-domain MCS adjustment.
RB Priority Low MCS NRDUCellRs RsvdParam38 0 0 2 When the value is 0~10, the estimated RB expansion ratio of the users whose scheme
vdExt02 takes effect and the effective expansion of RB and MCS is effective is the actual effective
value of the parameter.
PMI weighting for NRDUCellRs RsvdParam151 0 0 11 Indicates the threshold for determining whether to use PMI-based weights for the
PDCCHs of UEs at vdExt01 PDCCH. The value range of this parameter is 0 to 41. When the SINR is less than the
the cell edge threshold, weight switching for the PDCCH is triggered.
If this parameter is set to 0, this function does not take effect.
If this parameter is set to a value in the range of 1 to 41, the value that actually takes
effect is equal to the configured value minus 21. The actual value range is -20 to 20.
If this parameter is set to a value outside the range of 0 to 41, the default value 0 takes
effect.
This parameter applies only to 8T low-frequency TDD cells with the
DISTRIBUTED_ANT_WEIGHT_OPT_SW option of the
NRDUCellAlgoSwitch.BeamOptSwitch parameter selected or 32T/64T low-frequency
TDD cells.

Tech Version Feature Remark

NR 17.1 The specific gain depends on the subframe-level BLER. Drive tests indicated NR DL throughput would
Subframe-level MCS adjustment increase about 1%.

NR 17.1 Last Schedule UE with Spare PDSCH RB, to reduce MCS by increasing RBs, result in BLER decreasing.
RB Priority Low MCS For small packet service in root Metrics/umlaut, BLER would decrease.

NR 17.1 PMI weighting for PDCCHs of UEs at the cell edge If SRS interference exists, the service drop rate decreases after PMI weight is used on the PDCCH of
UEs at the cell edge.

OSS KPI Verification
The OSS KPI didn't see any improvement in the KPI, this
activity happened just after the new year holidays so KPI was
following a downtrend due to an increase in traffic and active
users after the holiday period. so it was hard to observe any
improvement through OSS KPI. but we observe well
improvement in the DT KPIs. Customers agree to rollout these
parameters in the network

DL MCS slightly reduced after the activity as expected due

to subframe-level MCS adjustment function

Suggestion and Summary
Summary:
Drive test observation:
From the Drive test result, it is observed both Round 1&2 show improvement in the Throughput KPIs.
OSS KPI Observation:
The OSS KPI didn't observe any gain due to an increase in traffic and active user in the network as the trial
happened just after the new year holidays.
DL MCS KPI degraded little but it was expected as per the feature working principle.
