Open Circuit Closed Circuit

What is the difference between the two circuits?
Answer: Open circuit does not allow electricity
to flow, while closed circuit allows electricity to
flow through it.

Observe the circuits:

Observe the circuit:
What happen when one
bulb removed from the
circuit?
It will not allow
electric current to pass
through and another
First Circuit bulb will not light up.
Observe the circuit:
What happen when one
bulb removed from the

Other bulbs are not
affected. It still allows
electric current to

GROUP PRESENTATION
Group 1 :
Connect the different
electrical component cut-
outs to form a series
circuit :
Series Circuit

Bulbs that
connected one after
the other in one
chain.
In series circuit, electric current flows through a
single path, so when one bulb is loosen or busted,
all the other bulbs in this circuit will not light.
The loosened or busted bulbs breaks or opens the
pathway, so electricity cannot flow through.
Just like the Christmas light, if it
was set as series circuit thus it will
affect all the other bulbs if one bulb
removed or busted.
Group 2 :
Connect the different
electrical component cut-
outs to form a parallel
circuit :
Parallel Circuit

Bulbs are in
different loops.
In parallel circuit, each bulb is a part of a
different circuit. When one bulb is loosed,
taken or burned out, the other bulbs still
light up. This is because each bulb has its
own pathway.
Observe the following:
A.

Does he bulbs light brighter?

*No. Because, the more bulb the dimmer light.
B.

Does he bulbs light brighter?

*Yes. Because, the more batteries the brighter light but
bulb will be busted/burned if too much voltage and
*The lesser bulb the brighter light.
C.

Does he bulbs light brighter?

*No,because, the lesser batteries the dimmer the light.
Remember the following effect of changing number of
components in a circuit;
The more bulb the dimmer light.

The more batteries the brighter

light but bulb will be busted/burned
if too much voltage.
The lesser bulb the brighter light.

The lesser batteries the dimmer

the light
Who wants to
count the number
of bulbs in the
circuit?

Answer:
3 bulbs
For the setup of
Series circuit, what
do you think will
happen if we add
another bulb or
more?

Answer:
It will make the bulb
dimmer and dimmer
Now, we can see the effect of
adding more numbers of
component in circuits. It will lessen
the electricity flowing through the
bulb.
Using the same battery. Which of
the following connection will
produce brighter light ? Why?

Answer: The connection that will produce be lighter lights is

letter D because it has only one bulb. The lesser bulb the
brighter light.
What Circuit is this?

Series Circuit
What type of circuit?

Parallel Circuit
In your EPP class, you will be having an actual making of extension
wire. For example, you are going to install electricity at home,What
is the common circuit used at home? Why?

Answer: Parallel Circuit

Because bulb in a parallel circuit will still function
regardless of the other bulbs connected in the circuit.
Short trivia:
According to some researchers, Parallel
circuits are used throughout our home
than series circuits - because they allow
current to keep flowing through various
paths, so it is not restricted to flow through
one path.

*What is the difference
between the Series
Circuit and Parallel
Circuit?
*How can you determine
the effects of changing the
number of components in a
circuit?
Determine the effect of changing number of components in a
circuit, Write True if the statement is correct and write False if
not.
______1. The more bulb the dimmer light.

______2. In a parallel connection when one bulb is removed The other

bulbs will still light.

______3.The more bulb the brighter light.

_____4. In a series connection, the remaining bulbs not light up when

one bulb is taken out from its holder.
_____5. The lesser batteries the dimmer light.
