BREIF ABOUT THE TRAGEDY
 The Bhopal disaster or Bhopal gas tragedy was a
chemical accident
 On night of 2–3 December 1984
 At the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide
plant.
 In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, INDIA.
 Considered the World's worst industrial disaster.

 Affecting a population of 520,000
 Of these, 200,000 were below 15 years of age, and 3,000
were pregnant women.
 The official immediate death toll was 2,259, and 3,928
deaths had been officially certified.
 The Sambhavna clinic "estimates 8,000 deaths during the
first weeks, and another 8,000 since then".
 This tragedy effect on the health of people like
respiratory problem, Neurological problem ,eye
irritation or blindness.
 The initial effects of exposure were coughing, severe eye
irritation, a feeling of suffocation, burning in the
respiratory tract, breathlessness, stomach pains, and
vomiting.
 In this incident People not have a treatment because there
is no antidote against MIC.
 Supreme court order to UCC paid $470 million Penalty.
PEOPLE’S DEMAND
Proper Medical Treatment of victim’s,but there is no
medical treatment against MIC Toxic Gas.
Fixing Criminal Responsibility.
Steps to prevent such disaster in the Future.
EFFECTS ON ENVIRONMENT
The heavy gas was absorbed by local rivers and
water bodies and making the water undrinkable and
poising it effect as marine life.
Many Crops were also deemed unsafe for human
consumption
Entire region went into crisis due to Food shortage.
