INTRODUCTION
• Common Name : Okra

• Botanical Name : Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench

• Family : Malvaceae

• Chromosome No. : 2n=130

• Origin Place : Africa

• Okra (Bhindi) (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) is one of the most
widely grown vegetables from tropical to sub-tropical parts of the world
• The green, tender and immature fruits are consumed as vegetables.
• Besides this the mature fruits are used in the paper industry and purifying
cane juice in Gur making (Chauhan, 1972)
• It is a very nutritious vegetable, rich in vitamins, calcium, potassium and
other minerals matters (Aykroyd, 1963).
OBJECTIVES

1. To assess the genetic Variability, Heritability and genetic

advance as percent of mean for selection in genotypes.
2. To estimate the correlation and path coefficient for
effective direct selection between pair of traits using
green fruit yield as dependent characters.
3. To estimate the genetic divergence of tested genotypes
EXPERIMENTAL DETAILS

Experimental Design : Randomized Block Method (RBD)

Number of replications : 3

Number of genotypes : 27

Plant Spacing : 60cm x 45cm

Plot size : 2.4 x1.8 m
