REFRACTION OF

LIGHT
GROUP 2
Aim : To investigate the refraction of light through different medium.
Problem statement : What happen when light travels from air into the different
type of objects obstruct.
Hypothesis : The light can be refracted when it can travel through the objects.
Manipulative : The type of objects obstruct.
Responding variable : The direction of movement of the light.
Constant variable: Number of battery, type of torchlight.
Apparatus & Materials: Pencil, plastic cup, water, torchlight, battery, table
mirror, metal spoon.
STEP
1. Point the light by using torchlight to the wall.
2. Get the plastic cup and fill half with water, then put it between the wall and light.
3. Record the observation in the table given below.
4. Get the mirror and put it between the wall and light. Record the observation in the table given below.
5. Get the metal spoon and put it between the wall and light. Record the observation in the table given
below.
6. Turn off the torchlight.
7. Get the plastic cup and fill half with water, then put it on the flat surface.
8. Take the pencil and put it into the plastic cup that fill with water. Record the observation on the table
below.
RECORD
Fill in the table below. Tick (/) your answer based on your observation.
Type of object Reflection Refraction
Cup half of water

CONCLUSION
The light can be refracted when it can travel through the objects. The
hyphotesis accepted/not accepted.
Question
1. What do you observe when you point the light through metal spoon, table
mirror and cup of water?

2. Why does the light intensity change when it passes through the cup of water?
