13
WHAT IS FAITH?
FAITH OF CHRIST
to
CHRIST GOD

-IT IS NOT THE GOSPEL
-IT IS HIS VERY CHARACTER AND PERSON
-PRODUCT: THE GOSPEL (Christ sufficient work on the cross)
Phil 2:8; Gal 2:16; Gal 2:20
Hebrews 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou
wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou
hast had no pleasure.7 ¶Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to
do thy will, O God. 14
WHAT IS FAITH?

FAITH IN CHRIST
TO
MAN CHRIST
Gal 3:26; Col 1:4; Col 2:5; 1 Cor 15:1-4; Eph 1:13; Rom 1:16

15
WHAT IS FAITH?
“BY FAITH”
 direct act of the person
 with element of work

Romans 3:30 Seeing it is one God, which shall

justify the circumcision by faith, and
uncircumcision through faith.
16
WHAT IS FAITH?
“THROUGH FAITH”
 the work of God
 is reckoned to some other person other

Romans 3:30 Seeing it is one God, which shall

justify the circumcision by faith, and
uncircumcision through faith. 17
WHAT IS FAITH?
“through” and “by”
By and through are two prepositions that are
often used in English language. A preposition is a
word that indicates the relationship between two
things. The main difference between these two
prepositions is, by is mostly used when referring
to a means of something while through is used in
relation to a process.
18
WHAT IS FAITH?
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of
things hoped for, the evidence of things not
seen.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is
impossible to please him: for he that cometh
to God must believe that he is, and that he is
a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Being “SAVED” means:
1. Regenerated – received new nature
2. Adopted – received new position
3. Justified – received new standing
4. Righteous – received Christ’s righteousness
5. Sanctified – received new character
6. Reconciled – received new relationship
7. Propitiated – received new fellowship
8. Redeemed – bought back from Satan & sin
SAFE NOT SAVED
Psalms 85:2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people,
thou hast covered all their sin.

Romans 4:6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of

the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without
works, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are
forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Hebrews 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come,
and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices
which they offered year by year continually make the comers
thereunto perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be
offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had
no more conscience of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a
remembrance again made of sins every year. 4 For it is not possible
that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

1 Corinthians 15:17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain;

ye are yet in your sins.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us,
who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness
of God in him.

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die,

but after this the judgment: 28 So Christ was once offered
to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him
shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
A FUTURE PROMISED
NOT A PRESENT POSSESSION
Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie,
promised before the world began; 3 But hath in due times
manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me
according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through

faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of
sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.
Hebrews 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of
the new testament, that by means of death, for the
redemption of the transgressions that were under the
first testament, they which are called might receive the
promise of eternal inheritance. 16 For where a testament
is, there must also of necessity be the death of the
testator.17 For a testament is of force after men are dead:
otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
NO ETERNAL SECURITY, NO ASSURANCE BEFORE
THE CROSS
Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; (forbear at) but
now commandeth all men every where to repent: 31 Because he hath
appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that
man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men,
in that he hath raised him from the dead.
Psalms 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy
spirit from me.
Ezekiel 14:14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it,
they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the
Lord GOD.(Ezek.14:20; 18:4,5,20-28; )
HEAVEN AND EARTH
GENESIS 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the
earth.
GENESIS 14:19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of
the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

PSALMS 69:34 Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas,
and every thing that moveth therein.
JEREMIAH 23:24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall
not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith
the LORD.
PSALMS 121:2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made
heaven and earth.
MATTHEW 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my
words shall not pass away.

REVELATION 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for
the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there
was no more sea.
