INTRODUCTION ON COMPUTER
A computer system is a set of integrated devices that
input, output, process, and store data and information.
Computer systems are currently built around at least one
digital processing device. There are five main hardware
components in a computer system: Input, Processing,
Storage, Output and Communication devices.
The first computer that resembled the modern machines
we see today was invented by Charles Babbage
between 1833 and 1871. He developed a device, the
analytical engine, and worked on it for nearly 40 years.
It was a mechanical computer that was powerful enough
to perform simple calculations.

SYSTEM SOFTWARE
System software is a type of computer program that
is designed to run a computer's hardware and
application programs. If we think of the computer
system as a layered model, the system software is
the interface between the hardware and user
applications.
The operating system is a best example of
system software.

LIST OF OPERATING SYSTEM:

Microsoft windows
iOS
Linux
Ubuntu
macOS
Android
APPLICATION SOFTWARE

Application software is A computer program that performs specialized

duties. Application software can carry out A variety of tasks, including
personal, professional and academic ones. Application software is
frequently referred to as productivity software or end-user software. Each
piece of software is designed to help users with A certain productivity,
efficiency, or communication process.

EXAMPLE OF APPLICATION SOFTWARE :

Google Chrome
Adobe Photoshop
MS Office
VLC Player
Calculator

CPU(central
processing unit)
A CPU, or central processing unit,
is the brain of the computer. Like a
human brain, the CPU controls all the
functions of the computer. The CPU's
job is to listen for input data from
devices like a mouse or other
software. Then it looks up instructions
for that data, and executes those
instructions.
PROCESSOR

A processor (CPU) is the logic circuitry that

responds to and processes the basic
instructions that drive a computer. The CPU is
seen as the main and most crucial integrated
circuitry (IC) chip in a computer, as it is
responsible for interpreting most of computers
commands.
MOTHERBOARD

A motherboard is the main printed circuit board

(PCB) in a computer. The motherboard is a
computer's central communications backbone
connectivity point, through which all components
and external peripherals connect.
RAM(RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY)

RAM is a common computing acronym that

stands for random-access memory. Sometimes
it's called PC memory or just memory. In
essence, RAM is your computer or laptop's short-
term memory. It's where the data is stored that
your computer processor needs to run your
applications and open your files.
ROM(READ ONLY
MEMORY)
ROM stands for read only memory. The
memory from which we can only read but
cannot write on it. This type of memory is
non-volatile. The information is stored
permanently in such memories during
manufacture. A ROM stores such
instructions that are required to start a
computer. This operation is referred to
as bootstrap. ROM chips are not only used
in the computer but also in other electronic
items like washing machine and microwave
oven.
SMPS(POWER SUPPLY)
A switched-mode power supply
(switching-mode power supply, switch-
mode power supply, switched power
supply, SMPS, or switcher) is an
electronic power supply that
incorporates a switching regulator to
convert electrical power efficiently.
COMPUTER DATA STORAGE
Hard Disk Drives: a device that reads and
writes data to the hard disk. Data is copied
from the computer's main memory (random-
access memory or RAM), and then written to
the hard disk. The drive is the mechanical
device that writes the data to the disk. Data is
represented on modern storage media using the
binary numeral system. All data stored on
storage media – whether that's hard disk drives
(HDDs), solid state drives (SSDs), external hard
drives, USB flash drives, SD cards etc – can be
converted to a string of bits, otherwise known
as binary digits.
MONITOR
A monitor is an electronic output device
that is also known as a video display
terminal (VDT) or a video display unit
(VDU). It is used to display images,
text, video, and graphics information
generated by a connected computer via
a computer's video card.
MOUSE
The mouse is a small, movable device that lets
you control a range of things on a computer. Most
types of mouse have two buttons, and some will
have a wheel in between the buttons. Most types
of mouse connect to the computer with a cable,
and use the computer's power to work. Some types
of mouse are wireless.
KEYBOARD
A computer keyboard is an input device used
to enter characters and functions into the
computer system by pressing buttons, or
keys. It is the primary device used to enter
text. A keyboard typically contains keys for
individual letters, numbers and special
characters, as well as keys for specific
functions.
GRAPHICS CARD
Video card, also called graphics
card, integrated circuit that generates the
video signal sent to a computer display. The
card is usually located on the computer
motherboard or is a separate circuit board
but is sometimes built into the computer
display unit.
SOUND CARD
A sound card is a computer component
responsible for generating and
recording audio. It enables users to
connect analog speakers, headphones
and microphones to their computer.
Most modern computers have a built-in
sound card in the motherboard.
DVD WRITER
With a DVD writer, you can copy digital
data to a DVD or CD or create an audio
CD or a movie disc in the form of DVD,
VCD, and SVCD. You can also duplicate
discs with a DVD writer. Say you have
created a music CD you can create
another copy of it as a backup.
SPEAKERS
A computer speaker is a piece of output
gear that connects to a computer to
produce sound, and as a result, we can
listen to the sound like an outcome.
