LTE Power Audit
Power audit is conducted to ensure better user perception (Better throughput/Better
coverage)

Types of Power Audit

• RRU Power audit (Power is evenly distributed between technologies (GL/Non GL mode)
• RS power , Pa & Pb audit to ensure better user perception

Pa=Power of RE in Type A / Power of RS in Type B

Pb=Power of RE in Type B / Power of RE in Type A
RS Power= Transmit power every resource element of cell-specific reference signals

There are two types of OFDM symbols

Type B which contains RS

Type A which do not contain RS

In two port antenna system two RE carry RS (Antenna 1) & two RE are empty (Antenna 2).
In case of evenly distributed power the two empty RE power is wasted (Pa=0 & Pb=1). So
in order to utilize empty RE power to enhance RS power (Pa=-3 & Pb=1) settings applied.

As mentioned below in audit delta between Max transmission and real transmission is high than 0.1 dBm (wastage of
power according to PaPb settings. So according to RS power we have the margin to modify Pa and Pb powers accordingly

Power Optimization :: ZTE Central Region (42 Cells)
Statistical Results ::
Highlights:

Pa/Pb audit has been conducted and and few discrepancies observed on 42 cells . Pa/Pb
can be optimized according to assigned RS power for better user perception and below are
the observations.

Benchmarking observations ::

1. Improvement in PS traffic.
2. Reduction in DL PRB usage & improvement in DL user throughput.
3. Improvement in quality KPIs (CQI & 64QAM share).
4. Improvement in Cell DL throughput.
5. Better CFI=1 proportion .
6. Rest KPIs following stable trend

BP Boards Optimization
There are different BP boards being used in our network which supports 2G, 3G & 4G cells. Exceeding
cells limit of boards can lead into low DL throughput , low traffic and camping issues BP Boards View

BPN0 6
BPN2 6

Sample Case (BPN board exceeding limit)

As mentioned in below audit BPN2 board exceeding cell limit (Currently having 9 cells rather
than 6). So performance of the cells in this board will be affected due to board over utilization.
Load shifting is suggested to Slot 6 BPQ2 having 8 cells currently and having capacity of 12 cells

BP Boards Optimization (Case Study)
Rack Chart
In recent past there was a case regarding low throughput and traffic was reported for site SRG 6033

Issue
DL user THP is low despite low PRB utilization specifically between intervals 9:00AM to 22:00PM for cells
1,101,103,113,12 & 3

Analysis

Root cause of low DL throughput was BPN2 board over capability .3G (5 cells)+4G (6 cells)
