Introduction
•Watercolor is a painting on paper or cardboard with
colors diluted in water. It is also the name of the
technique used in this type of painting, and of the
colors with which it is made.

•The colors used are more or less transparent

depending on the amount of water with which it is
mixed, and sometimes they reveal the background of
the paper, which is white and acts as a true tone.

•The product used for painting is made up of pigments

bound with gum Arabic or honey. Watercolor is used by
painting in transparent layers, in order to achieve
maximum brilliance and ease in the composition that is
made.
History of the watercolor The earliest known use of
watercolor in Europe is by the
Italian Renaissance painter
Rafael Sanzio (1483-1520),
who painted on large cardstock
as tapestry sketches. In
Germany, Albrecht Dürer
(1471-1528) painted
watercolors in the 15th
century. The first watercolor
school in Europe was led by
Hans Bol (1534-1593),
influenced by the creations of
Dürer.

My experience with watercolor
•I started painting with watercolor from the beginning of 2019, at the
beginning I had a set of 24 colors just for school, when I began to master
the watercolor technique more, I save money to buy better quality
materials.
•In 2019 the only thing I painted were animals since at
that time it was the easiest for me, but then in 2020 I
added more variety of landscapes and mandalas, I even
tried new techniques that I found on the internet.
•I like to paint landscapes, animals and mandalas
because they require a lot of different color
combinations and also because it takes me time to
complete them and it improved my skills with watercolor
and color theory, currently I don't like to paint simple
things because I usually finish them in a day, and they
don't require a lot of color. Painting with watercolor lifts
my spirits, entertains me, relaxes me a lot and I enjoy it
especially when my family and friends like my work.
