ANALYSIS: BUSINESS
OPPORTUNITIES IDENTIFICATION
BISAYA FOOD H A U Z
Last April 24, 2023 we conducted a study for 2 days on a registered business
establishment, it was located at Tuburan, Maasin City. We observed and interviewed
the owner regarding about the business establishment.

The brief history of their business comes from "bisaya lechon manok," because originally
they sold lechon manok back then, but it was not very popular with the masses so they
decided to change it into a small restaurant instead, and now they are selling different
native Filipino foods

With regards with the market structure of the business, it is a monopolistic competition
since it is not the only one in the area who offers products or services that are similar,
but not perfect substitutes, also they are exposed to a competitive market.

Their marketing strategy is focusing on guest loyalty by being friendly and having a pleasant attitude
towards the customers, also, they have a great customer service which makes the customers want
to come back. In this way, this helped them in getting their business recognized by people.
The initial capital of the business is around fifty thousand pesos, while
its average daily sales is five thousand pesos. Its average transaction
count is about 50+ persons.

The products offered are different native Filipino foods, and its top 3
most salable products are porkchop, kinilaw na nangka, and utan na
nangka.

The challenge the business faced was the increase of prices of goods
and products over time and also slow season happened due to the
pandemic that is why the business was shaky, which results to the
decrease in sales. To overcome it, the action they took was to find and
buy affordable ingredients and products but still has a good quality, so
that the expenses will be lessen and they'll avoid losses.
The business has no competition in the exact area because mostly the
other businesses there does not offer the same service, but if talking about
the whole city, the business has a lot of competitions.

Its target market includes both genders of students, aged 14 and

above, and workers, aged 20 and above. Most of the customers
belongs to the middle class and lower middle class, and its group
count target is 20 or more customers.

Just like any other business, they also follow government policies
and regulations. An example is the segregation of the trash properly,
and paying taxes fairly.
