us feel our best. There are many simple ways
to improve the way we eat, from increasing the amount
of fresh fruits and vegetables to learning how to read
nutrition labels.
Calories Explained
A calorie is a unit of energy.
In nutrition and everyday language, calories refer to
energy consumption through eating and drinking and
energy usage through physical activity.
For example, an apple may have 80 calories, while a 1
mile walk may use up about 100 calories.
Why Do We Need Calories?
We need a certain number of calories just to function.

oxygen, your heart needs to pump blood, your kidneys
need to excrete wastes, your liver needs to detoxify and
your brain needs to coordinate what your body is
doing.

Eating too many calories in a day has a negative
impact on your health
Equally important eating too little calories everyday
can also have a hugely negative impact on your daily
functions, as well as your hair, skin and nails.
