Introduction (Multimedia Filter)

•To reduce the level of

suspended solids (turbidity) in
incoming feed water.
•Multimedia Filter typically
contains three layers of media
consisting of anthracite coal,
sand and garnet.
Work Activities:
1) Remove media from polisher
2) Install new polisher with media
Possible hazard
Filter Media

• Contain dust between the media and polisher

• Remaining waste in polisher such as biological
contaminants and chemical waste

• Contact, ingestion and inhalation of dust

• Spillage of media that containing biological and
chemical matter
• Direct contact to chemical and biological
matter
New polisher with
media

• Narrow passage stair

• Dark working area
• Wet and slippery working area floor
• Heavy object and load (polisher and media)

• Accident due to mobilization of polisher and

media
• Slip and fall
New polisher with plastic
wrapping

• Need to climb in high place by ladder to take

off the plastic wrapping
• Use sharp instrument to cut the plastic
wrapping

• Slip and fall from ladder when take off the

plastic wrapping
• Injury due to the sharp media material and
instrument (scissor and blade)
