WEEK 6
PRAYER
CHECKING OF
ATTENDANCE
How are
you today?
Are you ready for
this morning?
Let’s focus and
enjoy the lesson!
CLASSROOM
RULES
Objectives:
1. Identify objects attracted by a magnet.
2. Identify the different magnetic poles.
Direction: Use thumbs up if the objects attracted by magnets and thumbs down if the
object is not attracted by the magnets.
Group Activity:
Direction: Separate the metals and nonmetal objects object .
VOCABULARY
Let’s read and understand the meaning of each word.

1.Push – when forces move an object away

from you.
2.Pull – when force brings an object closer.
3.Attracted - to pull or draw someone or
something towards them.
4.Different - not the same, unlike or opposite
5.Like – the same
6. Metal – objects that can or cannot be
attracted by magnet.
7. Non-metal – objects that are not made in
metal.
8. Repel – drive or force back or away.
9. Magnet - is a material or object that produces
a magnetic field.
10. Magnetic poles - end of a magnet where
the magnetic field is strongest.

GROUP ACTIVITY
What to do:
1. Place magnets on the table.
2. Have the north pole of a magnet face the north pole of a magnet.
Place them at least 5 cm away from each other. Observe what happens.
3. Have the south pole of a magnet face the south pole of a magnet.
Place them at least 5 cm away from each other. Observe what happens.
4. This time, have the north pole of a magnet face the south pole of another magnet.
Place them at least 5 cm away from each other. Observe what happens.
5. Try to move the north pole of a bar magnet towards the south pole of another.
Observe what happens.
6. Illustrate your observations for procedure 2, 3 and 4.
7. Present your output to class.
Guide Questions:

What happens when the magnets with the same

poles face each other?

What happens when the magnets with opposite

poles face each other?
Do you know that the magnet
has two poles?
The end of the magnet are called poles. One
end is South Pole and the other end is the
North Pole.
When the poles of the two magnets are put near each
other, they have force that will either pull them
together or push each other apart.
If the poles are DIFFERENT, they will
PULL ( ATTRACT) each other..
Magnets showing the north and
south poles attracting metallic
objects
If the poles are the SAME, the magnets will
PUSH each other apart or it REPEL each
other.
The push and pull of the magnet is called
MAGNETISM.

A Magnet produces a magnetic field around it. It is

stronger at the poles and weaker at the center.
Can the force of a magnet pass through
water?
 Yes, this happens because the force of
the magnet is powerful enough to
work through the glass and water
What do Magnets Attract?
 Materials made of metals are those attracted by
magnets. They can also made of iron, nickel, and
cobalt.
But not all the metal can attract by the magnet. Metals
like brass, copper, zinc and aluminum are not attracted to
magnets
Examples of metal that are not attracted
to magnet.
Gold ring
Wire
Foil
Lead wire
Coins made of copper.
Materials which are non-metals are NOT attracted
by magnets. They are materials made of plastic,
rubber and wood.

Directions: Classify each picture, write A if it is attracted to magnet and Not if
it’s not attracted to magnet

______________3.
Group 2
Direction: Read and understand the sentence. Write attract or repel.

___________ 1. Unlike poles were combined.

___________ 2. The teacher wants to combine the like poles.
___________ 3. The boy pushing his toy car with the magnet.
___________ 4. The technician is trying to remove the blocked bolt
from the hole using his magnet.
___________ 5. Opposite poles of two magnets are placed close to
each other.
Group 3
Generalization
What are the two poles of a magnet?
The two poles of magnet are south pole and north pole

The push and pull of the magnet called ____________.

The push and pull of the magnet called Magnetism.

A magnet is an object or device that produces a

________________.
Magnet produce magnetic field
What will happen if the same poles of two magnets are
placed close to each other? Why?
It will repel sir, because when two magnets are placed
with their like poles facing each other the lines of
force are in opposite direction.
What will happen if the opposite poles of two magnets are
placed close to each other? Why?
It will attract sir, because when two magnets are
placed with their unlike poles facing each other the
lines of force are in the same direction.
Remember these:
When the poles of the two magnets are put near each
other, they have a force that will either pull them together
or push them apart. If the poles are different, then they
will pull together, or attract each other. ( One pole is a
south pole and one is a north pole). If the poles are the
same, then they will push apart, or repel each other. ( They
are either both south poles or both north poles.) The push
and pull of a magnet is called magnetism.
What are the uses of magnet?
Magnet has many uses.

 Compass helps in finding the direction.

 Refrigerator door – keeps the door shut by sealing.
 Magnet helps computer to store data.
 Magnets can be found in many common household
item such as telephones, televisions, radios and
speaker.
Okay let’s have a GAME. We call this TUMPAKNERS
