Mounting Configuration
One MotorSTATUS unit per motor
Mount mid-motor on side near electrical J-box
Temporary mounting in eyebolt hole is acceptable.
A prepared plate attached with an epoxy is MOTORSTATUS
acceptable. TERMINAL BOX ENCLOSURE

Operational measurements are not location

dependent.
Trend parameter and Temperature measurements
may be enhanced or hindered depending on location.

PERMANENT MOUNT

7
MOTOR
MOTORSTATUS
STATUS
Operational Measurements
Vibration and flux sensors are used for tabulations of:
Load - Extended overloads shorten life

Starts - 1 hot or 2 from ambient per day

Run Time - Actual vs. Planned or Design

Acceleration Time (Q1-98)- 15 Seconds per 12-hours

8
MOTOR
MOTORSTATUS
STATUS
Temperature Measurements
Ambient Temperature Stator RTD*
Frame Temperature Motor heating

Motor temperature measurements can be used as primary indicators

of serious motor problems, including:
Overload
Voltage Phase Imbalance
Under/Over Voltage
Harmonic Content
Stator Shorts
Dirty/Blocked Cooling Passages

*MotorSTATUS will accept one (1) external winding RTD connection.

MOTOR
MOTORSTATUS

Electrical Measurements
Internal flux coil measures the motor’s electromagnetic
field with characteristics comparable to the electric
current signature.
High resolution FFT spectrum analysis of the flux field
can assess the following conditions:

Voltage Phase Imbalance

Stator Turn-to-Turn Shorts
Rotor Bar Condition

Mechanical Measurements:
Radial vibration is collected through an internal piezo button.
FFT spectrum analysis of the mechanical vibration will assess the
following mechanical conditions:
Balance Alignment
Looseness Eccentricity
Bearings Belts
Rubs Oil instability
Resonance Damage Severity & General System Problems

Historical Measurements
Motor history is automatically stored for:
Startup (time and date for the last 64 starts is recorded)

…and may be logged through communications devices for:

Lubrication (Q1-’98)

Maintenance (Q1-’98)

Alignment (Q1-’98)

Balance (Q1-’98)

Overhaul & Rewind (Q1-’98)
