Good Health And Well Being

The need of empathetic attitude and humane behaviour towards

patients
Good Health And Well Being
Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being at
all ages is essential to sustainable development.
Good physical and mental health is essential for
individual well-being as it supports equality, enables
inclusive and sustainable growth and enables robust
community participation and engagement. By
achieving good health for all, societies can be more
peaceful, inclusive, and more prosperous.
Why good health and well being matters?
Good health and well being matters because not only does
disease impact the well being of an individual, but it also
burdens family and public resources, weakens societies, and
squanders potential. The health and well being of people at
all ages therefore lies at the heart of sustainable
development. Protection from disease is not only
fundamental to survival but is also important for building
prosperous societies. Healthy people are the foundation for
healthy economies, and all our economies are linked
together.
The need of empathetic attitude towards
patient
The first core condition that is associated with effective helping skills is
empathy. This is the beginnings of a helping relationship, the ability to enter
and understand the world of the other person and being able to communicate
this understanding to them. Expressing empathy is highly effective and
powerful, which builds patient trust, calms anxiety, and improves health
outcomes. It is necessary and its expression creates an alliance between the
person and the patient, assuring them that we care about them.
WHAT IS THE POWER OF EMPATHY TOWARDS PATIENTS?

When we are using an empathetic approach in our everyday communication with

patients, we get a chance to understand why some patients are angry or depressed.
Instead of getting defensive or reacting to the negative emotions of the patients, we
can reach out and ask some simple questions to find out more about the emotional
situation. There may be different reasons behind their behaviour; however, by using
empathy, we will show that the patients are valued and respected. As a result, we
will not only build better relationships with the patients
If people begin to teach empathy in kindergarten, grade, and high school, then
chances are our world would become more tolerant, loving, and open-minded not
only in the field of healthcare but in the other aspects of life as well.
The need of humane behaviour towards patient
The second core condition is humane behaviour. It is the
personal quality or relationship characterized by open and
honest communication where people do not hide behind their
role. It also involves taking a non - judgmental attitude towards
the patient accepting and respecting them for who and what
they are. When one person is completely accepting towards
another person then it is not just a show of acceptance, but it is
an attitude that is then demonstrated through behaviour. The
patient should be able to feel as if they can freely express their
emotions without fear of being rejected.
