Kinh Tế Philippin
trước 1898
Nhờ vị trí địa lý thuận lợi nên dân cư Philippin
sớm biết kỹ thuật canh tác nông nghiệp, đánh bắt
cá và chăn nuôi nên nền kinh tế khá phát triển

Trong khi ở sâu trong nội địa, kinh tế kém phát


triển hơn với kỹ thuật đốt rẫy trồng ngô, vũ khí
và công cụ thô sơ

=> Philippin trở thành mục tiêu xâm lược của


các nước phương Tây
Sau các cuộc phát kiến địa lý đến giữa thế kỷ XVII, Tây Ban Nha đã chinh
phục được toàn bộ quần đảo Philippin

Trong suốt quá trình cai trị, Tây Ban Nha thực hiện chính sách cai trị theo kiểu
thực dân cũ, sử dụng hình thức cai trị trực tiếp, nhà nước độc quyền
thương mại

Hình thức bóc lột thiên về thu thuế thương mại, làm cho nền kinh tế
Philippines phát triển què quặt, phiến diện.
Từ cuối thế kỷ XIX nền kinh tế, khoa Mỹ chọn Philippines làm mục tiêu xâm
học kỹ thuật phát triển, Mỹ vươn lên lược. Sau gần 3 năm từ 1898 đến 1901,
đứng đầu trong thế giới tư bản. Trong Mỹ đã chinh phục được Philippines và
bối cảnh thị trường thế giới đã được biến nơi đây thành thuộc địa kiểu mới
chia xong, Mỹ chỉ còn cách chiếm lại đầu tiên tại Đông Nam Á.
