INTRODUCTION
 Bioethanol has been identified as the most used biofuel worldwide
since it significantly contributes to the reduction of crude oil
consumption and environmental pollution
 Bioethanol is an alcohol made by microbial fermentation from comes
from a renewable resource i.e. crops
 Bioethanol is an Transesterification process
 Spinach stem are agricultural waste products
 Yeast is the most commonly employed yeast in industrial ethanol
production as it tolerates a wide range of pH (Gerlach, 2015)
AIM AND OBJECTIVES
 To find the concentration and reducing sugar of ethanol produced of
bioethanol from spinach stem by Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker
yeast).
 To determine the quantity and percentage yield of bioethanol
production from spinach stem using baker yeast
METHODOLOGY
 Sample Collection : The sugarcane bagasse was obtained from Sokoto
Central Market and Saccharomyces cerevisiae was obtained from
mycology laboratory at UDUS.

 Sample pretreatment

 Hydrolysis

 Fermentation

 Distillation

Spinach stem + Catalyst (Beaker yeast) Spinach stem
DISCUSSION
 REDUCING SUGAR:

Spinach Stem + Yeast > Spinach Stem

 CONCENTRATION

Spinach Stem + Yeast > Spinach Stem

 QUANTITY

Spinach Stem + Yeast > Spinach Stem

 PERCENTAGE YIELD

Spinach Stem + Yeast > Spinach Stem

CONCLUSION
This present study shows that bioethanol obtained from spinach stem
using a catalyst (baker yeast) produce higher reducing sugar, bioethanol
concentration, ethanol quality and percentage yield bioethanol than the
production of bioethanol without a catalyst
