COREL DRAW
BOOTING TO COREL DRAW EVIRONMENT
One needs to click on any of the above options that will be suitable for one to work with.

NEW GRAPHIC: When you click on this option it means you want to open a new page or document to start your designs.

OPEN LAST EDITED: click on this option when you want to open a last edited Graphic, for instance you designed an identity card yesterday
before shutting down the computer system.

OPEN GRAPHICS: click on this option if you want to open an existing Graphic that is already saved in the computer system.

TEMPLATE: Template option bring out varieties of already prepared Template for one to choose and work with.

COREL TUTOR: When it is installed on your computer system , it teaches you about Corel draw.

WHAT’S NEW: it is an online option where you can get any new information about Corel draw from the internet when computer system is
connected to the internet.

Now click on New Graphic so that you can start your design in a new page so you can start working with Corel draw. When done you will be
taken to Corel draw environment where you will see bars like Title bar, Tools box, Ruler bar, Property bar, etc.
THE COMPONENTS OF THE COREL DRAW PROGRAM

A. TITLE BARS: this bar contains the name of the Corel draw Application and the name of the file. if you have not saved , it will read
UNTITLED CDR.
B. MENU BAR: this is a bar which contains Eleven Menu options like File, Edit, View, Layout, Arrange, Effects, Bitmaps, Text,
Tools ,Windows and Help Menu.
C. TEXT BAR: it is the bar that contains the Font style , Font size, etc. It allows you to format or process a text or word.
D. STANDARD BAR: it provides shortcut for the menu bar options that are used for easy operation for Corel draw program.
E. PROPERTY BAR: it display the property or information about your design , if for Instance you draw a rectangle object and click on it ,
you will see the size of the object displayed at the property bar.
F. ZOOM BAR: it houses the zoom tools that needed for Zooming in and out on your Graphics or page.
G. STATUS BAR: this bar displays information about your current design e.g. the fill/outline color.
H. RULERS: (Vertical and Horizontal) these rulers are used to measure distance and placement of objects on the page.
I. RULERS GUIDE: In between the rulers we have the Rulers guide which is use as guide for accurate measurement.
J. PAGE: This is a four-corner white area on the program’s environment , which represents the area of the Corel draw screen for us to start
working on .
(K)SCROLL BARS: (Vertical and Horizontal) the scroll bars are use in conjunction with the mouse to enable us to view different paths of our
document: Upward, Downward, Forward or Backward. The vertical Scrollbar is located at the right hand side of the program’s environment
before the color palette while the Horizontal scrollbar is located at the bottom of the program’s environment (at the top of the Status bar)
(L) COLOR PALATTE: The color palette is a bar that runs along side of the vertical scrollbar. (Immediately after scrollbar ) Of the screen where
color can be applied to selected objects.
(M) TOOLBOX: As the name implies, it is a box that houses the instruments or tools use in Corel draw.
(N) PICK TOOL: This tool is mainly use to select an object, resize, and move and rotate objects.
(O) SHAPE TOOL: this tool is use re-shape selected objects.
(P) ZOOM TOOL: This tool is use to change the viewing size and Position of the screen. Once selected, the zoom sub-tools appear.
a. The first option makes the objects bigger
b. The second makes the objects smaller
c. The third option will display page in actual size
d. The fourth option will display the page and every object on the screen
e. The fifth option will bring the whole page view.
(Q) PENCIL OR FREEHAND TOOL: This is a freehand drawing tool. Click on it and move to your page, then hold down the left mouse button
and continue to drag as you like but do not release the left mouse until you have finished drawing. From the dropdown Menu you have other
options like knife, Eraser, and Free transform tool .
(R) RECTANGLE TOOL: This tool is used to create rectangle or square objects. To draw with it, select the tool , hold the left button down on
the page , drag it to any direction and leave the left mouse when you have finished drawing.
To draw a Square Object, hold down the control (Ctrl) key before you start to draw.
