Heat Conductivity
• It is the ability of a material to conduct heat
through it.
• We can also call this thermal conductivity.

Heat Conductivity
• Cooking pots can be made of different metals. The
pot itself will be made of a metal such as copper or
aluminium.
• The handle is usually made of wood or plastic.
• Plastic and wood can be considered a thermal
insulator.

4
Electrical Conductivity
• Some materials allow electricity to move
through them easily while others do not.
• Materials which allow electricity to move
through easily are called electrical
conductors.
• Materials that do not allow electricity to
travel through easily are called electrical
insulators.

5
Using Electrical Conductors
• We use the property of electrical conductivity of materials ,such as copper, to make electric
wires.
• Electricity can be very dangerous to in order to protect ourselves we use plastic to insulate
the wires.
