adherence of students of Don Jose Integrated High School. Specifically, it aims to answer the
following questions:
1.2. Age;
4. Based on the findings, what input can be made in crafting policy about
cellphone prohibition adherence in student handbook?
Scope and Limitation of the Study
The respondents in this study comprise students of Don Jose Integrated High
School during the academic year 2023-2024. Data collection will be conducted
through surveys, with the students representing different grade levels.
The small sample size may limit the generalizability of findings, and the
exclusive focus on a single school might not capture variations in cellphone
prohibition adherence across diverse educational environments. Changes in
technology or societal attitudes towards cellphone use over time could affect the
study's relevance. Moreover, reliance on self-report data introduces the potential for
response bias.
Significance of the Study
The study on cellphone usage benefits various stakeholders:
Efforts to enforce strict cellphone restrictions vary globally. Ontario, Canada, and France
have succeeded, while the U.S., particularly California, has faced challenges. Chan and
Narasuman's (2022) review emphasizes the need for balanced cellphone prohibition policies,
addressing both restrictions and educational uses.
Review of Related Literature
Awareness is crucial for policy adherence, as evident in studies on academic
integrity and amnesty policies. Anohina-Naumeca et al. (2020) found that students
aware of academic integrity policies were less tolerant of violations. Weaver (2022)
underscores the need for increased awareness of amnesty policies on college
campuses to enhance compliance.
2.Weighted Mean
To determine the students' adherence level at Don Jose Integrated High School, the
researchers utilized the weighted mean in addressing the second problem statement.
Include information on the school’s efforts to raise awareness about cellphone prohibition, such as
workshops, presentations, or campaigns. Encourage students to familiarize themselves with the rules by
referring to the handbook and other resources provided by the school.
Emphasize the importance of complying with cellphone rules and fostering a culture of responsible
cellphone usage. Encourage students to support each other in adhering to the prohibition and consider the
impact of their actions on the learning environment.
Recommendations
Acknowledge the research findings that demonstrate similar levels of adherence across
different demographic groups. Stress the importance of treating all students equally and
respecting their individual backgrounds and circumstances.
