Multiples
• A multiple is formed by multiplying a given number by the
counting numbers.
• The counting numbers are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc.
• Example: List the multiples of 4
• 4x1=4
• 4x2=8 So, the multiples of 4 are 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24,
• 4 x 3 = 12 28, 32, etc.
• 4 x 4 = 16
• 4 x 5 = 20
• 4 x 6 = 24

13 x 1 = 13
13 x 2 = 26 So, the first five multiples

Composite number – a number that have more
than two factors.
Example #1: Number 8.
The factors of 8 are 1, 2, 4, 8.
#2: Number 15.
The factors of 15 are 1, 3, 5, 15.
Examples of Composite Numbers

• 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20,


• 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 32, 33,
34, 35, 36, 38, 39, 40, 42, 44, ..…
Remember:
• Prime numbers are numbers that have exactly two
factors, the number
itself and 1.
• Composite numbers are numbers that have more
than two factors.
• One (1) is neither prime nor composite number.
One is a special number because . . .
• One is not a prime.

(because it does not have exactly two different factors).

• One is not a Composite.

How to do a Prime Factorization
Factor Tree Method
Step 1 – Write down any composite number.
Step 2 – Start dividing by

How to do a Prime Factorization
Ladder Method

Step 1 – Write down any composite number.

If the composite number is divisible by 2,

If not, check if the number is evenly divisible
by 3, 5, and so on.
