Both broadcasts and articles report news that is current


and interesting to the general public. Both include facts,
opinions and quotations of things people have said.
Since news is about what has already happened, both
use the past tense but sometimes a live broadcast is
about something that is taking place at that time so the
reporter might use the present tense. In a live
broadcast, the reporter may use a more friendly or
familiar register than in a written article.
