GRADE 12 TERM ONE- NOAH’S ARK CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS
LET’S LOOK AT TERM ONE ASSESSMENTS:

• TASK 1: ORAL LISTENING COMPREHENSION (15)


• TASK 2: WRITING ESSAYS (50)
• TASK 3: TRANSACTIONALS (25)
• TASK 4: ORAL UNPREPARED SPEECH (15)
• TASK 5: TEST (35)
TASK 1(LISTENING COMPREHENSION)-CRITICALLY
STABLE
WHAT WENT WELL? CHALLENGES?

• 95/100 learners obtained a pass ‘sufficient’ mark • The ability to identify key words in a lengthy text
• Learners showed an average of 55% in understanding • The ability to mark key words in the question
the text, and could pick up the main idea of the text. • Time, following the reading pace whilst maintaining

• The overall pass average for the task is 42% which is extremely low!
but showed potential)
• Few punctuation errors • Majority could not show a clear distinction of the different types of
essays(Narrative, Argumentative, Reflective ,Descriptive…)
• Applying an objective writing style in essays that are based on topics like
Discipline, Load shedding.
• The topic about Angels was abused and not given descriptive justice.
• Using “I”, ‘’You”, “Us”, “We”…in texts that require an objective approach
(imposing the writer’s opinions and experiences on the reader).
• Essay planning-80% did not effectively plan their drafts, which made it hard to
organize and present ideas in a logical manner.
• Spelling, Tenses, Sentence Construction, Paragraph Flow, Vocabulary, CHAT
GPT!
TASK 3 (TRANSACTIONALS)-IT WAS OKAY
