that consider their mission the
highest priority.
Sanergy is a social enterprise
aiming to increase sanitation in
the slums of Kenya.
SOCIAL ENTERPRISES
Portable toilets with less complex
sewage system, allows for easy
integration into crowded slums.
Promotes positive change within
the Kenyan community.
 STARTING UP A BUSINESS

- identified sanitation as a discussion

for development
- secured funding through winning
entrepreneurship competitions
- they launched this project in 2011,
- realized a profit could not be made
without a large amount of human
waste
- MIT’s 100k business plan
competition, Mass Challenge, and a
Boston Based international and
acceleration grants program
- Fertiliser made from waste proved to
be a more viable product for
agriculture in developing countries.
 VALUE TO SOCIETY

• Sanergy builds healthy communities by making

hygiene sanitation affordable across the world. ​
• 2.5 billion people around the world lack access
to proper hygiene sanitation. ​
• Sanergy creates sanitation devices called the
Fresh Life Toilet.​
• Sanergy has helped create more jobs for people living
in developing countries​
• Converts human waste into fertilizer and renewable energy​
