A system of IoT Devices to prevent under-loading/overloading
of Railways wagons.

CURRENT
SCENARIO
•Coal India Limited(CIL) supplies coal by rail through railway sidings.

•Railway wagons at sidings are loaded by payloader under contractual arrangements.

•Contractual loading often leads to overloading or underloading of wagons.

•Purchaser is responsible for paying penalties for overloading.

•In 2021-22, under-loading expenses were Rs 593 cr., While loading contract cost was Rs. 276
cr.

 OUR PROPOSED SOLUTION
MINISTRY OF COIL

• Install weighbridges or rail scales at a designated location on the railway track.

• These devices can accurately measure the weight of coal trains as they pass over them.

• Connect the weighbridges to a data collection system. This can include load cells, sensors, and a
data acquisition system to capture weight data in real-time.

• Identify the destinations or loading/unloading points.

• There are some areas where we install the weighing system initially.

• Set up weighbridges or rail scales at these selected locations. Ensure they are strategically placed

4 to capture accurate weight measurements.
