• Program Types
1. Company Reimbursed programs : Reimbursed in
full or in part ,for use of outside programs &
facilities.
Advantages :
a) Benefits from physically fit employees, without
incurring any exercise injury
b) Smaller capital expenditure as compared to in house
programme
Disadvantages:
c) No direct control over the quality of service
d) Health club may not be conveniently located
2. Company sponsored program – Sponsored &
organized programs using an outside facility or
vendor.
Advantages :
a) Employer has control over educational programs,
therefore program can be company tailored.
b) Vendor variety
Disadvantages :
c) Greater financial commitment than company
reimbursed programs.
3. Company operated programs- with an in house facility.
These programs are more likely to be “ high tech to
high touch” versus , recreationally oriented . Staff is
either company employed or an outside firm is
bought into run the program.
Advantages:
Increased employee participation due to location.
Employee has control over program
Provide a site for research
Personal recruitment drawing card.
Disadvantages:
Financial commitment of start –up & operational
expenses
Benefits of Employee Fitness Program:
a) Health care cost reduction
b) Decrease employee absenteeism, therefore increase
production
c) Stress reduction
d) Improve job satisfaction due to improved mood &
self concept
e) Enhanced employer/ employee relationship because
the company has made a commitment to the
employee beyond the pay check
