and coherence to your work.

Learning Activity 4:

Choose a person who has inspired you to write a reflective speech about. The audience for
your speech is a youth forum of 11–13-year-olds.

■ Keep in mind the 5 steps from Monroe's Motivated Sequence.


■ Monroe's Motivated Sequence is seen in many real-life situations such as infomercials
and sales pitches. When using this it is important to have a passionate, confident, and
extemporaneous delivery. The five steps are attention, need, satisfaction, visualization
and call to action.

■ Have you understood how the selection of a variety of language features influences
your audience?
■ Have you understood how to draw on personal knowledge and other sources to express
a point of view, using language features to engage the audience?
