• Future Mega-Projects in Dubai 2025
• 1. Dubai One Tower: Once completed, it will be the 4th tallest building in the
world, and the tallest residential building in the world with 711 meters high.
• 2. Alladin City Dubai: Three towers, designed to resemble Alladin’s magic lamp,
linked by bridges and walkways.
• 3. Bluewater Island: It will be 210 m high. It is called Dubai Eye.

• Dubai Independent Transportation Strategy 2030: Dubai Independent Transportation Strategy
aims to transform 25% of the total transportation in Dubai to autonomous mode by 2030. The
strategy is expected to bring AED 22 billion in annual economic revenues in several sectors by
reducing transportation costs, carbon emissions and accidents, and raising the productivity of
individuals as well as saving hundreds of millions of hours wasted in usual transportation.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF UAE
 The history of human habitation,
transmigration and trade in UAE goes back
to over 125,000 years
Stone tools recovered reveal a settlement of people from Africa
some 127,000 years ago and a stone tool used for butchering
animals discovered on the Arabian coast suggests an even older
habitation from 130,000 years ago.[

There are six periods of human settlement in UAE before Islam, which
include respectively:

The area was variously occupied by the Achaemenids and other forces,

 Trade in copper from the Hajar Mountains commenced around 3000 BC.
 Ruins in Mleiha in Sharjah indicate that there were commercial ties with
Greece in the 3rd Century BC.
 By the 1st century, Abu Dhabi had caravan traffic between Syria and cities
in southern Iraq began.

 There was sea trade to the important port of Omana
(Umm al-Qaiwain) and to India.
 Chinese merchants came to Dibba for trading.
 Liwa was the focus of economic and social activity for
the Bani Yas before the 16th century.
 1790s the town of Abu Dhabi had become an important
pearling center and AL-Nahyan family moved there
from Liwa.

UAE RULERS
Sheikh Zayed was born in 1918. He ruled Abu
Dhabi from 1966 until he died in 2004.
 He united Arab Emirates in 1971 and
became the ruler of the country.
 The Federal National Council (FNC), was
established in 1971 by Sheikh Zayed, and then
changes took place in time and HH Sheikh
Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was appointed
Ruler of UAE and President of the federation
supreme counsel in December 2005.

Tolerance in UAE
• Sheik Mohamad Bin Rashid announced the
establishment of the Ministry of Tolerance in Dubai in
2017, headed by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al
Nahyan.
• UAE has been always a coexistence place, and this has
been seen in the welcoming environment of over 200
nationalities who live and socialize together
smoothly and respectfully.

Tolerance Observed in UAE?
oOne example of UAE's religious tolerance: the country is home to over 200 nationalities
and more than 40 churches, a Sikh temple and a number of Hindu temples.
oUAE celebrates tolerance concept as value in conferences, program and sports activities.
oAnti-discrimination and anti-hate laws and centers to counter extremism had been set up.
It's not by coincidence. It's by deliberate action and inspiration: UAE spreads tolerance,
moderation and respect for others as practiced by the country's founding father, the late Shaikh
Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Tolerance in the UAE is observed at all levels: individual, organizational, national and
institutional levels.
The UAE promotes acceptance and understanding as the country's core values.
Timeline of Tolerance
Tolerance has always been fostered in UAE culture, It is an inherited
value well observed by the latest funder of the UAE Sheikh Zayed.
However UAE started to officially and strongly promote this value in
2015- Within a tome line of 5 consecutive years a set of achievements and
significant events marked UAE as a reel land of tolerance.

Tolerance Activities and Initiatives (1)
In June 2016, the National Program for Tolerance was adopted. The program aims to describe
the UAE’s true image of moderation and respect for all and to spread its message of
coexistence and peace throughout the world.
Initiatives taken by the government:
Setting the Anti-Discrimination and Hate Law.
Establishment of centers to combat extremism including the International Institute for
Tolerance, the Centre for Truth and the Hedaya Center for Fighting Violent Extremism.
In 2017, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid named the pedestrian bridge on the new canal in
Dubai as the Bridge of Tolerance.

In 2019, the government announced the Tolerance logo.


Ghaf tree was chosen to represent Tolerance in the logo, as it symbolizes stability and peace in
the desert and has the ability to adapt in such environment.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid formed the Supreme National Committee for Tolerance to
regulate the cause-specific local events and initiatives.
Pope Francis visited the United Arab Emirates in 2019. This historic visit was the first of its
kind for the Middle East, which set the pace for similar events in the future. As part of the Year
of Tolerance initiative, the UAE will organize many events, notably the signing of the historic
“brotherhood of humanity” document to promote the values of tolerance, coexistence and world
peace.

Dubai Expo 2020:


“Connect the Minds and Make the Future” is the theme of the event.
Dubai Expo 2020 aims to provide people with an opportunity to communicate with each other
despite their different backgrounds and affiliations.
It aims to promote dialogue and find solutions to common global challenges through collective
efforts.
It is impossible to achieve all that without tolerance, openness and respect that surpasses the
superficial barriers of race, religion and differences of opinion.

The Special Olympics World Summer Games were held in Abu Dhabi between March 14
and March 21, 2019. Over 7,000 athletes from all over the world took part in the event. This
was the first time these Special Olympics Games were held in the Middle East.

The construction of UAE’s first Hindu Temple in Abu Mureikheh. The groundbreaking for
this project will take place in April and the temple is expected to be completed by 2020.

An increase in nation-building events that encourage cultural awareness among people, such
as the Emirati-French Cultural Dialogue and UAE-China Week.

• Burj Khalifa:
• It is the tallest building in the world. It is 829 meters high. It is one of the most
important land mark not only in Dubai, but in all the emirates. It has the longest
travel distance elevator in the world.
• Sheikh Zayed Mosque:
• It took 20 years to finish it. It opened in 2007. It holds 40,000 worshippers. It is a
mixture of ottoman, Fatimid and Mameluke styles.
• Al Hajar Mountains:
• It is a mountain series that extends from Ras Al Khaimah to Oman. It is an ideal
place for lovers of nature and who likes hiking and sightseeing.
• Sharjah Art Museum:
• It has works for Arab artists and European artists.
