Usually portrayed them negatively, and plays a major role reinforcing stereotypes Comic roles- bad humor, made fun at. Loud bawdy songs.(just clapping hands) Interested in money(sing dance and beg for it) Vile , villainy characters.

Instances of positive representation in mainstream cinema.. TAMMANA- The film explored uncommon aspects of an eunuchs personality.
Mani Ratnams Bombay also brings out the soft tender side of a eunuch. Shyam Benegals Welcome to sajjanpur also shows a hijra fighting elections.

News media
Problems and issues not given proper coverage and importance Usually blanked out by the mainstream news media. Do them more harm by giving them negative coverage. Example news article- Chandani case . Hijras planning to launch their own News Channel!!
