The area of the Emirate of Ajman is about 460 Sq. Km. while the total area including the regional waters is about 600 Sq. Km. Ajman City is the capital of the Emirate and lies down at a small creek of 16 Km. length to the North East of Sharjah. It is bordering Sharjah and only 10 Km away from Dubai in the south and Umm Al Quwain in the north. Many roads lead to and from Ajman from Sharjah, Dubai, and Umm Al Quwain including Emirates Road. Ajman emirate is consisting of 3 distant and various regions in relief, extent of nearness or farness from Gulf coast. These regions are: Ajman city Masfout area Al Manama area. The climate of the emirate is moderate as the temperature degree becomes medial and rises in summer whereas the temperature reaches 25 C in winter. History sits visibly in Ajman: traces of the old town are still visible, as in the shape of the fine old watchtower at the town's entrance, and the large fort in the town's centre. Yet Ajman - which now is the northernmost part of the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman coastal urban belt - is in no way resting on its considerable history. Its dynamic leaders, H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman, and H.E. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, have set into motion plans that look to make the emirate a significant economic player in the Gulf region. The gleaming Dh 10 million Ajman Centre has quickly become another prime trade fair venue in the Emirates.

Ajman Museum This fascinating museum was opened in 1981 in a lovely old eighteenth century fort which served as the Rulers palace and office until 1970, when it became the main police station. Located in the town centre, the museum houses an interesting collection of archaeological artefacts, manuscripts, old weapons and reconstructions of traditional life. Ajman Fort Ajman Fort was a strong point of presidency and political authority in the Emirate and it was the first defense line for it. This historical over-peered landmark is a register of the ancestor s achievements and their immortal legacy. It was a generous act from His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, member of the supreme council and governor of Ajman to offer this fort as a gift to the Emirates people. That was through his resolution of devolving it to an integrated museum containing antique samples, assets, traditional industries, traditional professions and images of the old social life. The exact year of the Fort establishment has not been known yet. However, it is surmised that it was probably built in the late of 18th century out of local materials (i.e. Coral Sea stones and gypsum). It was roofed by Jandal (boles of trees brought from East Africa). The fort was attacked and destroyed in 1820 as the rest of forts and castles in the northern Emirates by the British battleships. However, it was rebuilt again by Rashid Bin Humaid I (1803 - 1838). The renovation and restoration operations were maintained during the nineteen and twenty centuries. It was used as a residency of the ruling family until 1970 when the late His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi (1928 - 1981) moved to live in Al- Zahir Palace.
