Anger is a basic human emotion that is experienced by all people. Typically triggered by an emotional hurt, anger is usually experienced as an unpleasant feeling.
Causes of Anger
Anger can be caused by: External events Internal events
External Anger
You could be angry at a specific person (Such as a coworker or supervisor) or event (a traffic jam, a canceled flight)
Internal Anger
Your anger could be caused by worrying or brooding about your personal problems..
Aspects of Anger
The positive aspects of anger are that you have increased energy, are able to communicate your feelings, able to solve your problems and can take charge of the situation. `
The negative aspects of anger are that you can have disruption of your thinking, unnecessarily defend yourself, become aggressive and become known as an angry person.
CHEMICALS pour into the bloodstream. THE HEART pumps faster. BLOOD PRESSURE rises. BLOODFLOW quickens. MUSCLE tense.
ANGER MANAGEMENT
Anger management does not involve getting rid of all anger, but using anger to enhance your life. We can look at the purposes of anger in both a positive and negative light
Stay in control of your anger! Dont let your anger control you!!!
- Make a list of things that make you mad, and memorize it.
- When you feel angry, do something with the energy. Slowly breathe in and out ten times. On the exhale, spread your fingers.
Make peace with yourself and the person who is the object of your anger. Forgive yourself first. Than apologize to the other person for the lack of control.
- Mentally visualize two paths. Have one of these paths be positive, pleasant, and full of light. Have the other path be dark, gloomy, and depressive. Then send your angry feeling down the dark path and over the cliff.
- Talk your way through your anger. Tell yourself you can change from being a reactor of your emotions to being a processor. Notice your thoughts, change negative thoughts to positive.
Daily seek ways to change your image, inner thoughts, and outer behavior, so the two match.
