DIGITAL LIGHT PROCESSING

Presented by zzzz

INTRODUCTION

Electronic projection display technology for high-brightness applications had its origins in the an oil film-based projection system developed in the early 1940s. The oil film projector has a number of limitations -- size, weight, power, stability, and maintenance.

LCD-based technologies have challenged the oil film projector, but have not provided the perfect solution for the entire range of high-brightness applications.
The response to these limitations was the development of high-brightness projection display systems based on Digital Light Processing(DLP) technology.

What is DLP technology?

Digital Light Processing, DLP technology is an all-digital display technology.

At the heart of DLP technology is the Digital Micromirror Device,a semiconductorbased light switch. DLP technology is a revolutionary display solution that uses an optical semiconductor to manipulate light digitally. A proven and dependable technology preferred by leading electronic companies worldwide.

GRAY SCALE AND COLOR OPERATION

Grayscale image As the mirror rotates,it either reflects light into or out of the pupil of the projection lens, to create a burst of digital light pulses that the eye interprets as an analog image. Color is achieved by using color wheel ,which filters the light into red, green, and blue, from which a single-chip DLP projection system can create at least 16.7 million colors.

The on and off states of each micromirror are coordinated with these three basic building blocks of color. .

DLP optical systems have been designed in a variety of configurations distinguished by the number of DMD chips in the system. One chip low brightness applications. Two chip compensation for color deficiency. Three chip highest brightness applications.

CONCLUSION

DLP brand projection displays are well-suited to high brightness and high resolution applications. This technology is indeed sufficient as an eventual replacement for standard film projection. This technology places no limit to the size of the screen that can be manufactured as each pixel has its own amplification ability. With anticipated improvements in short-arc xenon lamp technology, it is expected that brightness levels in excess of 10,000 lumens should be achievable in DLP brand products of the future .
