History of Wireless power. What is WiTricity? Need of WiTricity.. Basic Principle. WiTricity Technology How it works?? Features and benefits. Applications Pros and Cons.
WiTricity
Nikola Teslas Wardenclyffe tower built on Long Island, NY in 1904. This tower was intended to Implement Teslas vision of transmitting power and information around the world. The tower was destroyed in 1917.

RESONANCE COUPLING
A group of engineers at MIT came up with the idea to use resonant induction to transmit power wirelessly.
WiTricity
Resonance", a phenomenon that causes an object to vibrate when energy of a certain frequency is applied.
WiTricity
The Brain behind WiTricity is of Prof. Marin Soljacic from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and he is the one who has proved that magnetic coupled resonance can be utilized in order to transfer energy without wires.
5
Experimental Design:
The experimental scheme consisted of two Selfresonant coils. One coil (source coil) is coupled inductively to an oscillating circuit; the other (device coil) is coupled inductively to a resistive load. Self-resonant coils rely on the interplay between distributed inductance and distributed capacitance to achieve resonance.

What is
?? ?
WiTricity
WiTricity is nothing but wireless electricity Transmission of electric energy from one object to another without the use of wires is called WiTricity Because of WiTricity some of the devices wont require batteries to operate.

Need of
:
WiTricity
Need of
:
WiTricity
Increased usage of Laptops, Cell-phones, House-hold robots etc which run on batteries.
Wire less energy transfer would be useful for many applications as above and reduce the usage of wires and batteries in our life.
BASIC PRINCIPLE
Two resonant objects of the same resonant frequency tend to exchange energy efficiently, while dissipating relatively little energy in extraneous off-resonant objects.

Automatic
wireless charging- both in and out of range of its witricity power source.
Some statistics
Used frequencies are 1MHz and10MHz At 1Mhz, field strengths were safe for human At 10MHz, Field strengths were more than ICNIRP standards

NOW

No more helical coils Companies like Intel are also working on devices that make use of RIC Researches for decreasing the field strength Researches to increase the range WiTricity corp and Mitsubishi motors have agreed to research on easily deployable electric vehicles wireless charging 18 systems.

TOMORROW
WiTricity
1) Power from mains to antenna, which is made of copper 2) Resonates at less than 10MHz (electromagnetic waves) 3)Extended coverage range 4) Electricity received by antenna, also resonating at same frequency. 5) Energy not transferred to laptop re-absorbed by source antenna. People/other objects not affected as not resonating at 10MHz
