issued by Bank Negara Malaysia on 12th June 1967 six denominations namely 1 cent, 5 cent , 10 cent 20 cent, 50 cent and 1 ringgit. The obverse of these coins bear the image of Parliament House and a thirteen pointed star with crescent moon. The reverse of these coins show the denomination of their face value (1 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent and 50 cent) with the word MALAYSIA in the upper part. The year of mintage was shown below the denomination.

Second Series coin
issued in 1989 by Bank Negara Malaysia consist of denomination of 1 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent, 50 cent and $1. The observe sides have feature the national flower, the Bunga Raya in the upper middle part of the coin with the denomination below it. The words BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA are described along the upper circumference, with the year mintage in the lower half. The reverse side represent Malay culture item.
