Founded in 1960. Now eight campuses. Open admission. No one is turned away. Part of State of Florida system of colleges & universities. Approximately 30 colleges. 11 universities. Diff between public/private =$$ Now 4 year degrees in some disciplines. i.e: business,nursing,video Articulation agreements with all Fl public universities, most privates, and some out of state. (limited access programs)

College rules/Fl law


MDC college rules (admissions/transfer) are Fl law. In

Fl constitution. By law, you can only transfer 60 credits. Fl resident tuition is subsidized by state. (sales tax) Actual cost is approx 3x. State lays down the rules.(3 attempt rule.) State audits the college.

Articulation agreement
Agreement between MDC and universities in Fl.

College system that guarantees admission to Fl public universities to all MDC graduates. Also, many private Fl universities (Barry, UM, NOVA, St. Thomas). Some out of state universities (Georgia Tech.) Remember limited access programs.

Dean & Assistant dean are gatekeepers. Responsible

Graduation- Fulfillment of requirements to get

Major- describes a group of classes. Used to determine

what courses to take. Grade forgiveness- 2nd attempt is what counts, NOT the better grade. 3rd attempt No grade forgiveness.2nd & 3rd grade will be averaged. 3x tuition. Appeals For extenuating circumstances.
