Budget Estimates

Freight loading of 1025 MT, 55 MT more than 201112 Passenger growth - 5.4% Gross Traffic Receipts - RS 1,32,552 cr. i.e. 27.6% increase over RE, 2011-12 Ordinary Working Expenses - Rs 84,400 cr. Appropriation to DRF at Rs 9,500 cr. and to Pension Fund at Rs 18,500 cr. Loan of Rs 3,000 cr. taken in 2011-12 to be fully repaid along with interest

FARE CHANGES
Increased passenger fares by 2 paise per km for suburban and ordinary second class 3 paise per km for mail/express second class 5 paise per km for sleeper class 10 paise per km for AC Chair Car, AC 3 tier and First Class 15 paise per km for AC 2 tier 30 paise per km for AC I. Even the price of platform tickets has been raised to Rs. 5 from Rs 3.

GREEN INITIATIVES
Setting up of 72 MW capacity windmill plants in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Setting up of 200 remote railway stations as 'green energy stations' powered entirely by solar energy. Providing solar lighting system at 1000 manned level crossing gates. Introduction of mobile emission test cars to measure pollution level of diesel locomotives. Commissioning of two bio diesel plants at Raipur and Tondiarpet. Introduction of a 'Green Train' to run through the pristine forests of North Bengal.

New lines
6,872 crore rupees is specially provided for new railway lines in budget of 2012-13. 41 new lines is going to be start during the 2012-13 45 new lines projects has been included in budget of 2012-13. 84 new line projects sent to planning commission and also 111 new line surveys to be taken up during 2012-13

Conversion Project
17 Gauge Conversion Projects to be completed in 2012-13. 4 Gauge Conversion Projects sent to Planning Commission. 7 new Surveys for Gauge Conversion sanction in 2012-13.

Railway Electrification System


Meaning Average horse power in elec is 1.6 times more then conventional diesel locomotive The load bearing capacity of elec is 9% more then diesel loco Average speed of elec is 8% higher then diesel loco The average fuel cost in diesel loco is 60% higher passenger & 160% higher in goods carriage Diesel loco have 50% more failures then elec loco Electric loco- environment friendly - is that really so ?? One electric loco of 5000 HP requires 4.2 MW of power. One mw of power requires 10 tonnes of coal per day

Project with State corporation


There are 31 new project will be executed with different state corporation Some of the major projects are as below: Ahmednagar-Beed-Parli Vaijnath Rajasthan , Burdwan-Katwa new line, Bagalkot-Kudachi, Wardha-Nanded (via Yevatmal-Pusood) etc.

Comparison 2011-12 and 2012-13


2011-12 - No increase in fares. 2012-13 - The Train fares would be increased across all classes.

- Safety first priority; accident rate has - Safety cannot be achieved without come down. modernization .
- 80,000 employees hired last year. - All unmanned level crossing up to 3000 to be eliminated. - More than one lakh employees hire in 2012-13 - All unmanned level crossing to be abolished in next five year.

- 1300 km new lines, 867 km doubling - 75 new Express trains to be of lines and 1017 km gauge introduced, along with 21 new conversion targeted in 2011-12. passenger services, nine DEMU services and 8 MEMU services trains.
