Abstract
Current CEO Bill Simon and other members of directors help mold the culture of what the late Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton first established in his company. There is thought whether these changes are beneficial for the most successful retailer in the world. The Front-end changes are apparent as customers continue to enter the 8,970 locations. To explore the changes of Wal-Mart, this paper analyzes the history of Wal-Mart. The research addresses the following questions: Where people greeter originally came from? Is the people greeter needed? Should Wal-Mart spend more or less money on advertising?

Introduction/Lit Review
According to Wal-Mart's history, discount retailing did not being in 1962, which is the year Wal-Mart and current competitors Target and Kmart first opened. The birth of discount retailing began in the 1950s. Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart, knew a lot about discount retailing from his travels and studies. Before opening up the first Wal-Mart store in Arkansas, he was convinced customers wanted an innovative store. Kmart expanded during the 1960s before Wal-Mart, because Sam did not have enough money. He was only able to build 15 Wal-Mart stores. The company later grew to 276 stores in 11 states by the end of the decade when Wal-Mart stock was newly offered on the New York Stock Exchange in 1972. The first Sams Club members-warehouse store opened in 1983 and the people greeter is introduced. In Wal-Mart's job description, the People Greeters Job Responsibilities are as follows: Greets, communicates, and responds to customer questions; locates merchandise; provides shopping and motorized carts; provides requested assistance with merchandise returns; deactivates security tags; and checks receipts.

The greeter stands in the front of the entrance, usually directly in the middle and greets, communicates, and responds to customer questions. Figure 2 shows the new concept by simply putting the people greeter inside the store in heavy traffic or giving the greeter other duties.
