The System M Monitors Critical Care Parameters Needed to Make Critical Clinical Decisions During ECMO and Perfusion

Cases. The system continuously measures: SvO2 Hematocrit/Hemoglobin Venous flow Venous differential PO2 Temperature SaO2 Arterial flow Cardiac Index Micro-emboli PCO2

This is All Done in Real-time Using Non-invasive Technology.

Key Features:
Non-invasive. Can be used on any tubing. Real-time, not a trending device. Accurate with no calibration needed. Portable with one minute set-up and quick release mounting system. No disposable costs.

No Disposables:
Quick Set-up With Easy to Clip On Non-Invasive Sensors Flexibility in Placement of the Sensors On the Tubing No Flow Disturbances Decreased Risk of Infections and Clotting Minimal to No Calibration Needed

The Parameters Measured By the System M are Considered Critical Care Parameters. Therefore it is critical that changes in these parameters be identified and acted on quickly. The ability to measure these parameters in realtime is therefore an obvious benefit.

M4 System Performance Specifications

Saturation/Hct sensor cable should be connected to the Left side of the monitor. The sensor cable will split into a venous sensor and an arterial sensor.

Saturation / Hct sensor

Attach the required size of pipe-clip on the tubing. Ensure the retention clips are fully engaged.

Insert the sensor between the retention hooks until the sensor is secure.

To remove the sensor, hold the tubing as shown and squeeze the retention hooks until the sensor can be pulled free or the pipe-clip can be removed for re-use.

Ensure that both the tubing and sensor assembly are free of writing, dust, and any form of contamination.

Open the lid and slide the tubing into the sensor.

Warning: Only use Isopropyl Alcohol solution to clean the HCT/S02 sensor.
Do not use water based or petroleum based lubricants. Sensor calibration is determined by tubing dimensions. Using on tubing other than the specified size generally yields inaccurate measurements and may cause erratic zero baseline drift.

Ensure the sensor is free of dirt and contamination.

Ensure the sensor is connected In the direction of the flow.

As with the saturation sensor the size of the flow sensor must match the tubing size on which it is placed. When flow is at zero the system can be zeroed out for more accuracy.

The Gas Measurement Module is positioned between the Gas blender and the Oxygenator. This sensor monitors the gas delivered to the oxygenator. Ensure an anti-bacterial filter is positioned between the Gas Measurement Module and the oxygenator.

Gas outlet Gas inlet

Ensure the gas module is mounted in a horizontal attitude. Mount the gas measurement module via its pole clamp in the orientation shown below. Connect the gas measurement module electrically to the M3 monitor by inserting the lead from the M3 monitor into the connector indicated.

Monitor Connector

Connect the exit CO2 sensor to the Gas out-flow site of the oxygenator. Keep the sensor as upright as possible (as shown in picture) to stop water condensation from entering the sensor.

Connect to Oxy Gas outlet Port.

Exit CO2 Connector

Connect the exit CO2 sensor electrically to the gas measurement module by inserting the connector into the socket indicated. Do not block or restrict the exit port.

Key Points When Using System M

Review User and Service Manual

The SD card does not need to be in the system when doing a case but it can be used to record the case and then downloaded to a spreadsheet at a later date.

When Connecting the Sensors and the Power Cable to the Monitor Always Line the Dot on the Connector to the Dot on the Monitor.

Key Points When Using System M

Clean Tubing and Hematocrit probe with alcohol and do not place sensor over writing. Do not put gel or Vaseline on the Saturation and Hematocrit sensors. Use the zero out button on the set-up for accuracy when using the flow sensor. This should be done when flow is basically zero. Vaseline (not water based gel) may be used on the flow sensor for coupling.

Key Points When Using System M

Sensor size should be checked to make sure it is the appropriate size for the tubing. The size of the sensor that is currently connected to the system will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. The Record button will start and stop the readings during a case. No Calibration is needed but you may want to Synchronize to the tubing or blood gas.

Key Points When Using System M

Three exclamation marks over a reading alert the user to the fact that the system is not getting an accurate reading for various reasons. A code will be displayed under the exclamation marks. A list of codes can be found in the user manual with explanations of possible errors.
The HCT/Saturation cable is fiber optic and must at all

times be handled with care. Do not exceed the minimum bend radius of 50 mm.
Battery power lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Keep the monitor plugged in when not in use in order to prevent draining the battery.
