Mentor Share a goal of your own and how you achieved that goal.
What would you like to buy with your own money? How much money will you need? Do you want to save some of your earnings? (account) How much do you want to share with a charity? What do you hope to get out of Lemonade Day?
Difference between consumables vs. capital equipment? Costs to purchase needed items? How many cups / how much cost per cup? How much to charge per cup / how many to sell? Alone or a partner (splits costs and profit)?
Mentor Tell them about any experiences you have had in taking out a loan. (follow guide
in youth workbook)
Potential investors? How much to borrow? How will you ask? Why should they invest? What interest rate will you pay? When will you pay them back? What happens if you dont pay them back?
Tip: have a story board with your stand ideas to show or full details for stand before approaching investor or give several options to choose from.
Mentor Location! Location! Location! Discuss why businesses select certain locations.
Where do lots of people go on the weekends? Where is the perfect location for your stand? Will you need permission? Is the location safe? Are there places for people to park? What time of day and how many hours will you run your stand?
STEP 5: ADVERTISING
Asset Areas:
Based on the site what is the best way to get your stand noticed? Signs? Size? Materials? Other ways to advertise? Who to tell: friends, family, neighbors, faithbased? Message on sign?
Mentor Discuss options for the stand. The more creative the more likely for potential customers!
Use ready-made table? Build a stand? Supplies? Theme? Decorations? Size of stand? Who can help build or has ready-made table? How will you get your stand to the location and back?
STEP 7: PURCHASING

Mentor Trip to the market! Supply listcompare pricesbest value. They pay!
Kind of lemonade? Favorite recipe? What supplies do you already have? Where to shop and who will take you? What will you do if you dont buy enough/too much? How will you keep ice? Keep track of receipts!
Healthy recipe? Taste good? Type of serving container? Understand local health guidelines for serving beverages? How will you keep your stand clean?
STEP 9: SETTING UP
Asset Areas:
How will you get stand and supplies to location? How long will it take to load, transport and set up? Do you have change for customers that wont have correct change? Do you know how to make change? (PRACTICE!) Where will you keep money? Trash / recyclables.
Mentor The Pitch! Why they have a stand and why their lemonade is the best! Reminders: eye contact and SMILE! TAKE PICTURES! MAKE MEMORIES!
How will you greet customers? Why should they buy YOUR lemonade? Refills? Costs? Say thank you! Can they see your tip jar? How will you keep your money safe?

Mentor Save Some! Discuss the benefits of savings. Maybe take a field trip to a bank!
What will you do with your profit? How much will you save? Do you have a savings account or want to open one?
If you have made a profit will you give to a charity? What charity will that be? What causes do you care about the most? How else can you help with your cause year-round: volunteer, donate goods, participate in activities, etc?
Mentor Reflect on time put in vs. outcomes from the day. Discuss how they can use this process in the future.
What did you do well? What would you change? Were you satisfied with your location? How can you apply these steps to future/other businesses? Will you do this again?
