What is Google Chrome OS?


oThe Google Chrome OS is envisioned to be a lightweight operating system that promises to start up and get users on the Internet in a few seconds. oThe Official Google Blog said the OS will target net books first when it comes out, and will be made available for enterprise computing solutions in succeeding releases of the software.

Hardware Support
o Google Chrome OS is initially intended for
secondary devices like netbooks, not a user's primary PC, and will run on hardware incorporating an x86 or ARM-based processor. o Chrome OS will support hard disk drives, Google has requested that its hardware partners use solid-state drives due to their higher performance and reliability. o Google Chrome OS consumes one-sixtieth as much drive space as Windows 7.

o Chrome OS has an integrated media player enabling users to play back MP3s, view JPEGs, and handle other multimedia files while offline.
o Chrome OS also includes an integrated file manager resembling those found on other operating systems, with the ability to display folders and their associated files, as well as preview and manage file contents using a variety of Web applications, including Google Docs and Box.net

Chrome OS has auto-updating and sandbox features that will reduce malware exposure.

Conclusion

Google clarified the position of Chrome OS as an OS for specialized internet surfing devices, not personal computers. As an OS for a cloud device, Chrome OS gets straight to the point. You boot into the browser, and you start working. If you are spending most of the time online despite disadvantages, the operating systems we have reviewed should be quite useful.
