A villain commits a murder, but Jim Carey gets framed for it and is put to death in the electric chair

and dies. Jim Carey becomes a ghost and tries to get back at the real murderer. Jim Carey then meets an Old Woman (Michelle Pfeiffer) who can speak to ghosts and She gives him a Riddle to solve to find the real culprit. He goes around trying to work out the riddle the old woman gave to him, and on the way he gets new and different clues to get him closer to working out the riddle. But as he walks past an Alleyway, he sees someone attacking a young Woman. Jim tries to help her and beat up the criminal, but he cant as he is a ghost. But as she runs away, he notices that the criminal is in fact the criminal hes been looking for. Knowing this he ran away and hit in a old subway tunnel that hadnt been used for many years to come to terms with whats happened so far since hed become a ghost. He suddenly puzzles together all the clues hes been given and works out that the real criminal was the Old Woman. Jim goes back to the Old Womans house, and tells her what hes worked out. She laughs at him, reveals to him that she is the real criminal behind the whole thing, but also reveals that the man who committed the crime was her son.

Barthes Theory
According to Barthes, there is always more than one particular way to read a text.

To uncover the texts plural meaning, you must read the text, and then again re-read it.
This is because every time you read something, it is always different when you read it again.

The Five codes are: Enigma code Where a mystery is set up. Something happens and makes us want to know more. Cultural Code When we know where the story is set, we understand the style of the story.

This relates to my blockbuster because Barthes codes make the audience think many questions towards the film or TV programme. For instance, a horror film will often not reveal the identity of the murderer until the end of the story, which poses the question "Who is the murderer? The main theory that is linked to our film is the Enigma code. That then leads to our blockbuster because we want people to start asking questions

Semic Code When we get another media text in the story added to the story.
Symbolic Code When certain images are given meanings. Tension Code We start guessing what is going to happen next.

Levi Strauss Theory

Binary opposition is when two character's are Opposite of each other. For example: A good guy and a bad guy. These are binary opposites because they have different characteristics and one always wins or looses in the end of a film/TV show.

The binary opposition in blockbuster, is Jim Carey and Michelle Pfeiffer because Jim is the good guy, and the old lady is the bad guy in the end which is what we find out.
This is because it Is a balance between good and evil.

Marketing:
- The two main stars of the film are Jim Carey and Michelle pfeiffer - TV Spots, Interviews with Jim Carey and Michelle Pfeiffer - Teaser Trailers and Theatrical trailers - Billboards with posters - Merchandise: Action figures, Costumes, replicas of film clothing, masks, box sets of figures

- It is not Horror, it is more of a jumpy thriller so It will be aimed for young adults and Adults who like a good Thriller.
- The Holiday release date will be a week or a week after Halloween as it relates to ghosts and murder.

- It will be first released in America and a week after and Europe will get their release.
