ACTIVITIES AND MATERIALS TO ENCOURAGE AESTHETICS DEVELOPMENT THROUGH SONGS AND POETRY

PREPARED BY: FAHIMAH BT FUAZI NURUL FAZWANI BT FOIZI NURUL NABILAH BT MANSOR

Music enriches the lives of children in many significant ways.

Lullabies played during infancy have a calming effect and offer

reassurance from the earliest days of life. During toddler and preschool years, traditional nursery rhyme songs like "Twinkle,

Twinkle Little Star" and musical finger plays such as "The Eency
Weency Spider" become a source of delight, both for the child striving to master them and for the adults witnessing the process.

Many young children learn their ABC's as a song long before they
are acquainted with the shapes or sounds of individual letters. -Langfit, 1994-

Through the art activities, young children will develop their hidden abilities and skills. Most importantly, however, children will also develop an appreciation for the art of other people and cultures, and the confidence to express their own thoughts and feelings through art. Far from creating individual prodigies, this integration of making and enjoying art in the early childhood classroom will result in the "all-sided development" of the children participating.
