Bill of lading; Export of containerized cargo through ICD

Bill of lading
A document that is used to acknowledge the receipt of a shipment of goods A transportation company or carrier typically issues this document to a shipper It indicates the particular vessel on which the goods have been placed, their intended destination and the terms for transporting the shipment to its final destination ,description of the goods that are being shipped, their weight and the other shipping details.

PRESENTATION OF SHIPPING BILL Exporter/CHA will file prescribed copies of Shipping bill. NOTING All shipping bill in prescribed proforma along with other relevant documents are to be submitted at Noting Section of Export Branch of ICD. Container no. is to be furnished before "Let Export" order is given

Processing
The Shipping Bill will be presented together with two copies of G.R.I. form, invoice, packing list, quality certificate (wherever required), contract/buyers order etc. Noting Clerk provides = stamp on the date of presentation + serial number to the Shipping Bill Inspector will process the Shipping Bill

G.R.I. Formalities
Exporter would be required to submit SB along with a full set of G.R.I forms Original G.R.I form-Customs will keep & send to RBI. Duplicate G.R.I form-will be given to exporter after the Customs examination of the export cargo, and sealing of the containers by the proper officer of the Export Shed at ICD, which the exporter has to present to the Bank.

Receipt of Goods in ICD for Export


Presentation of 1 copy of processed SB to the Shed in charge (Exports) for giving space availability certificate and other formalities Carting permission will be given necessary entries about the arrival of goods in the register will be made Shed incharge SB Appraiser/Superintendent who will give examination order on the prescribed copy of the Shipping Bill

Examination 1
Examining officer in the shed will examine the goods in presence of exporter/CHA Samples, wherever necessary, will be drawn in presence of exporter/his representative. The examination report will be counter-signed by the Appraiser/Supdt.(Exam) who will also verify the full export value on the G.R.I. Form.

Examination 2
Container stuffing is done
Appraiser/Superintendent will certify these details on the invoice/packing list Export promotion copy and DEPB copy & DFRC copy filed will be suitably endorsed and handed over to the exporter. Goods will be send to gateway port for exporting two transference copies of the shipping bills will be placed in the sealed envelope and handed over to the carrier who will be responsible for producing it along with the container to the

Stuffing sheets countersigned by


exporter/representative of shipping line and jointly signed by Shipping line and Shed in charge

Containers are sealed with customs


OTL(one time lock)

After the customs copy of the stuffing sheet is presented to the Superintendent (Exports) he will give the "Let Export" order on all copies of the Shipping Bill

Customs Officer at the port of exit.


Within 7 days of sailing the steamer agent will file EGM at Export documentation centre.
