Read the duties and the knowledge, skills and abilities required for each position CAREFULLY before applying. Assess the value of what you have to offer to each position and the organization. How does your experience apply to what is required for the job? Think deeply about yourself

Become familiar with the organization so you can demonstrate how and why you will be an effective employee. Be realistic! Know your qualifications and limitations. Wanting a job does not necessarily mean youre qualified for it. A job that pays well for duties you dont like will not be rewarding in the long run.

Resumes should be brief and to the point Must be Error Free Make sure all information is accurate and captures what you have done in each job. Document your qualifications. Never assume anything.

Interview Dos

Dress appropriately for the industry Arrive 10 minutes early. Know the exact time and location of your interview; know how long it takes to get there, park, and find a restroom to freshen up. Offer a firm handshake, make eye contact, and have a friendly expression when you are greeted by the interviewer. Listen, to be sure you understand your interviewers name and the correct pronunciation.

Even when your interviewer gives you a first and last name, address your interviewer by Mr. or Ms. and the last name, until invited to do otherwise. Maintain good eye contact during the interview. Sit still in your seat; avoid fidgeting and slouching. Respond to questions and back up your statements about yourself with specific examples whenever possible. Ask for clarification if you dont understand a question; and be thorough in your responses while being

Use good grammar and good diction. Say yes, not yeah. Dont fill pauses with um, uh or ah. Dont punctuate sentences with you know, like, see or okay. Treat the interview seriously and show interest in the employer and the opportunity presented and respond to questions in a positive manner. Watch the tone of your voice. Make sure you understand the employers next step in the hiring process; know when and from whom you should expect to hear next.

Interview Donts
Dont make excuses. Take responsibility for your decisions and your actions. Dont make negative comments about previous employers or supervisors (or others). Dont treat the interview casually, as if you are just shopping around or doing the interview for practice. This is insulting to the interviewer and the organization.

Interview Donts
Dont give the impression you are only interested in salary. Dont act as though you would take any job or are desperate for employment. Dont chew gum or smell like smoke. Dont take cell phone calls during an interview. If you carry a cell phone, turn it off during the interview.

What about Answering Questions?


Your points must be CLEAR, RELEVANT AND ADEQUATE: To enable the interviewer to understand what you are trying to say; to determine your strengths for that particular job Dont describe how you WOULD behave. Describe how you DID behave. If you later decided you should have behaved differently, explain this. The interviewer will see that you learned something

Tell me something about yourself What are your greatest strengths? What are your greatest weaknesses? Tell me something you did or failed to do that you are ashamed of. Why should I hire you? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now? Why do you want to work at our company? What books have you read lately? Can you work under pressure?

Tell me something about yourself


You need to have a short statement prepared in your mind Be careful that it does not sound rehearsed Limit it to qualifications & work related unless instructed otherwise Talk about things you have done and jobs you have held that relate to the position you are interviewing for Start with the current and work up to the farthest.

What are your greatest strengths?


Your impression should not be arrogant at the same time do not be too humble Mentally list down your greatest strengths Also have corresponding examples Memorize them should be able to talk about them at 3 in the night A few good examples: ability to prioritize, ability to work under pressure, problem solving skills, leadership skills, positive attitude, professional expertise

What are your greatest weaknesses?


This is an eliminator Will get an A grade for Honesty but an F grade for the interview Disguise a strength as a weakness Think about the example too Eg. Being perfectionist

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?


Objective of the question is. - Whether you would stay back for long? - Wants to gauge your level of ambition. Assure your employer that you are looking forward to a long term relationship. As for the future, I believe that if I work with sincerity and excellence, the future would take care of itself. Am confident that .

The question intends to test whether you have done your home work about the firm This is a full toss (if you are prepared), need to hit a SIX. Sources for researching are Annual reports, corporate news, articles, web sites, etc. What should you try and find out? - The management - The product/service - The Industry (leader, total market, global scenario) - The job profile

What good books have you read lately?


Never lie At the same time, you cant afford to say None Consider it as a part of your interview preparation. - Read a few books on management - A few best sellers They should be QUALITY books.

The interviewer wants you to choose between INTEGRITY and LOYALTY Avoid choosing between them If pressed too much always choose INTEGRITY
